Agent: Lewis Will Not Go Back To Sonics With Offers From Other Clubs
26th April, 2007 - 2:43 pm
Seattle PI -

Tony Dutt, the agent for Rashard Lewis, said his client will not go back to the Sonics with offers from other clubs to see if they will match.

Lewis said after the Sonics' April 20 loss to Dallas that he planned to give the Sonics the opportunity to match offers. Dutt said he expects the Sonics to make a competitive offer by July 1, the first day teams are eligible to negotiate with free agents.

"I can't honestly say that's not what we meant. That's not the way it was meant," Dutt said Wednesday. "It's important for them to know that. We'll see how they really feel about him come July 1. Rashard's expectations are such. We want everyone to be in the same situation. We'll look at all of our options. We expect them to kind of show us what his feeling of worth is as well."

The dude wants Michale Redd money and he's not worth it. Heck Redd isn't worth that coin. I told everyone early about this guy this off-season for him is all about the stacks.

He would be perfect for Toronto, and give them a chance to compete for the eastern conference title. The Spacing he would provide for Bosh down low and ford to drive and kick would be very dangerous

He'd be a perfect fit for the Magic with Dwight/Hedo/Ariza and Charlotte Okafor/Wallace/Morrison any young up and coming team he'd fit right in.

there is nothing i would love more than a frontcourt of rashard, bosh and bargnani. can't defend it. with tj ford and AP. that's POTENT. then you'll have calderon, garbajosa, rasho and filler off the bench. maybe the deepest team in the east.

but alas, that's just a major major pipe dream...

I agree, and this is how you destroy franchises. REdd is a good player, but very one dimensional and over the long run his contract is going t kill the bucks. Lewis is a good player but not worth what he is seeking, I understand him trying to get his money, I just wonder what fool team is going to pony up....

Yep when he was a RFA obtaining his current contract, that off-season the dude was comparing his early yr numbers to Kobe Bryant and felt he deserved Kobe Bryant (max) money. He wanted $80Mil at the time. He went on this drama queen FA tour to Houston and then to Dallas and was pissed off that off-season because no teams had any significant cap room to offer him the contract he wanted. He even threatened to play in Dallas for 3yrs(3yr/$10-$15mil or so) so they could obtain Bird Rights on him with Cuban making up the difference on his next contract. He tried to make the Sonics bid against themselves holding out for a while. He held out so long the owner(Howard Schultz) ordered he and his mom to make a decision fast or else they were pulling their offer off the table. He signed the contract reluctantly and felt he was low balled. He received the same contract I believe the Wolves signed Wally Zerbiak to(5/6yrs $60mil) 6yrs/$60mil, which was dead on what he was worth at the time, maybe a little less. Recently he's stated he feels he's been underpaid the past few seasons. The guy even hired a new agent. The writing is all over the wall on this guy, he's after the MULA. We need to stay away from him seriously.

Oh yea I agree, and these contracts are out of hand. When guys like redd and lewis are getting 60 and 80 mil, then what are kobe and duncan really worth? Again I want to steer clear of this cat, he is not a franchise player, not even close, he is a good complimentary player, I would argue that caron butler is a better player than Lewis, but that is just me...

They already have outside shooters in Barganni, Anthony Parker and injured rookie Jose Garbojosa They need a defensive minded Center who can snatch boards
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

IMO Butler is a better player than Lewis and the Lakers started their own downfall when they gave him up for Brown. Kobe, Butler, Bynum, Odom, and Farmer would have been a more potent lineup than what they have now.
