Has to be Camby and Nene for McDyess...The Knicks could have easily had a roster similar to that of the Nuggets right now...I know the Camby injury issues wore on the fans along with his absence(mentally) in the playoffs because of a family incident...The Patrick Ewing trade started us downhill into salary cap hell but this trade just cemented the future for the Knicks...Layden should not even be allowed to hold a clipboard on any sideline in the NBA...He was hot and heavy trying to get Bosh for KT straight up with Toronto...What a dork!!!...Was this guy serious????

when we're handing off a potential lotto pick in 2010 to utah as part of the marbury failed experiment, that might rank up there.

Yet he never managed to give up lottery picks in consecutive (50+ loss) seasons.

Seriously, the time the Knicks went to play Houston for the Championship, in 94, I still to this day believe that letting Xavier McDanial go was a huge mistake and I think he would have been the difference in that series.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Nope. The worst trade(s) in Knicks history has to be the series of events that eventually yielded the Bulls Scottie Pippen.

Chain of events (1986-87):
NY trades Darrel Walker to Denver for and unprotected #1
NY trades Denver #1 + 2nd rounder to Chicago for Juwan Oldham (a backup center)
NY swaps picks (finished in lotto) with Seattle (the worse of two picks) for Gerald Henderson (a backup point guard)

The pick that went to Seattle became Scottie Pippen
The pick that went to Chicago via NY via Denver became Olden Polynice, which Chicago turned into Pippen. (Bulls drafted Horace Grant with their own pick)

I have to dissagree. Scotty was wayyyyy overated. He was nothing without jordan. I guarantee he would not have those six rings without jordan. And when jordan was gone for a few years, that was proven. Scotty couldn't carry that team.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Okay? Still doesn't change the fact that (1) the Knicks would have had Pippen playing next to Ewing (2) he wouldn't have been on Chicago (3) he's one of the 50 greatest players of all-time (4) the Knicks still would have had another lotto pick to play alongside Ewing and (5) Pippen > Nene + Camby.

Okay I'll give you that. The only thing. He's on the 50 greatest (I'm still laughing at that one) because of jordan.

YES! I literally cried when that happened. I must have been 9-10 years old. Strickland to me was the best point guard to ever come out of NYC.

When Xavier was traded I was pretty pissed too. I just remember asking why? Then Xavier didn't do anything after that so I felt a little better about it.

lets see what you say after the Knicks win the lottery and the Bulls select Greg Oden or Durant. Then Isiah will truly have cemented his legacy in this town.

I don't think Xman got away via a trade. I think he got out his contract on a back door move orchestrated by his agent. Maybe a player option.

One trade that sticks out is bringing Mark Jackson back from Toronto for Chris Childs then getting spanked by Toronto in the first round.

Hell, Keith Van Horn and Michael Doleac for Tim Thomas and Nazr Mohammed has to rank up there too. Maybe not long term, but I think that trade set us back a few years due to the negative influence of Tim Thomas. Then again, Cancerbury's negative influence has been longer felt, so I'd say the Cancerbury trade was the worst one of the decade... even worse than the Layden trades, sadly. The Y Curry trade still has a shot to take over #1. That lazy fatass.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

You know, Pippen probably was "only" a Robin to Jordan's Batman... but he was the single greatest Robin in NBA history. Pippen was one of the best defensive players ever and pretty much invented the point forward position. And he could have been a Knick... when the single biggest reason Ewing never won a championship was because he never had a legit Robin.

the Camby deal is bad then you take into account that the KNicks could have drafted Amare instead of Nene. Simply backbreaking deal that destoyoed the team for about 5-10 years.
