He got 16 minutes of PT in the first game vs. the rockets and cried. Sloan doesnt like him. Would he be a good fit in NY? Or do we already have Balk?

I'd do it if we could trade steve franchise for AK47

Ya, or the Jazz say fck you Caseloads?

It would start with Lee or Frye and probly have to include Quentin and our pick...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Do you honestly think Steve Franchise is a Jerry Sloan(a coach who holds players accountable to the point of his own detriment) type of player? How many players do the Knicks have that you think are Sloan type of players? Maybe 3 Lee, Balkman, and Mardy, now do we want to sacrifice them in a trade? Probably not.

Nobody wants our crap the past trade deadline said so, not to mention there are more attractive players from other teams out there.

AK47 appears to be damaged goods or past his athletic prime. I think if we could package two of the following (Frye/Jeffries/Jerome James) for him, it'd be great. Frye has trade value - everyone could use a big man, and everyone can use a dead-on jump shooter -- maybe another team has the PT or patience to develop him.

I can see Sloan finding time for Jerome James - he always seems to find use for plodding big men (Eaton, Ostertag, Spencer).

Jared Jeffries plays the same way AK47 does now. Does a lot of nothing on the court.

At his best, though, Kirilenko is an awesome disruptive force, an excellent all-around defensive player with good offensive skills. It'd be interesting to see where he could fit in on the Knicks, since he's still kind of in that same mold as Lee & Balkman.

jeffries + frye + malik MAY be enough if utah is looking to dump some $$$.

but the guy is forever hurt and is a shell of himself as the injuries took their toll.

AK-47 is owed $63 million over the next 4 seasons. If AK-47 is that unhappy, or he and Sloan just can't get along - Utah may look to dump him for expring contracts and draft picks. But the Knicks don't have any big deals coming off the books until the summer of 2009...

Utah Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
Andrei Kirilenko
6-9 SF from Russia (Foreign)
8.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.9 apg in 29.3 minutes
Incoming
Jamal Crawford
6-5 SG from Michigan
17.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.4 apg in 37.3 minutes
Jared Jeffries
6-11 SF from Indiana
4.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 23.8 minutes

I think this deal is fair, and we are getting rid of 2 players and opening up room while holding onto nate, channing and morris for a future trade.

AK47 does seem a little lost but he is much more effective at the power foward spot and you could split him and dlee at the position if he ever regains his form he is more than tradeable. Jefferies gives you nothing and crawford is to erratic to contribute

if eddy curry said he wouldn't want to be here if isiah is gone, then he may drive down the nj turnpike in a white ford bronco if jamal is traded.

although, surprisingly, his most successful season (wins) as a pro was without jamal.

I say we pass on AK-47. He does not have the consistent outside shot that we need and without that, he is really just a more experienced Balkman (obviously he is also a little more skilled offensively). At 4 years and $63 million, we need more than someone who is slightly better than our current players. Plus, I expect Balkman to make a huge improvement this summer.

TheGame, I think you're underrating AK47 a bit. AK47 is one of the top 10-15 players in the league when he's healthy. There's health concerns and questions that he may have lost some of his athleticism. That's what I would focus on if you're making an argument not to trade for him. Otherwise, he does EVERYTHING. He blocks at a very high rate, rebounds, passes well, plays great man to man defense, can score when he wants to, can hit threes with decent accuracy. His offense wasn't questioned too much until this season, so either his body is wearing down or he just hasn't been fully healthy due to past injuries. In previous years he was among the best because he was so well-balanced. I hope he can get back to that, because he was such an exciting player to watch when he was on. In that mode he was in, I'd take him over anyone on our roster because he did all the things that we were missing.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

He is a powerfoward that is playing small foward which is a huge problem. Try putting a guy that plays around the basket on the wings and watch how ineffective they are

He plays like a PF, but his frame allows him to play the 3.

Boy if he is having mental problems in Utah, I don't not want to see him having to play in New York. THey can keep him.
