2. O'Neal ($19.7 million) to New York for Jamal Crawford ($7.9 million), Channing Frye ($2.5 million) and Jared Jeffries ($5.6 million)
>> Why it works: O'Neal still has a close bond with Knicks coach Isiah Thomas. Crawford can play both guard positions and he's capable of high-scoring games.
>> Why it doesn't: The Pacers would be helping their former coach take a step closer to returning to the playoffs.

I like this trade for us although it kinda stunts DLee's minutes. This would be out 8-man rotation.

C-Curry
PF-O'Neal
SF-Balkman
SG-Marbury
PG-Collins

Bench - DLee, Morris, Nate.

QRich in the nine man rotation.

i think the guy that proposed that deal is either 5 years old, or has a 3 inch hole in his medulla oblongata.

Safe to say you don't think Indy will make this trade?

First of all, if any trade for JONeal happens, it's an Isiah trade, which means we're giving up at least 2 first rounders and one second rounder. Second of all, it also means we're giving up some good contracts and taking back some really nasty ones. We have no expiring contracts this upcoming season, so we're not getting JONeal.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

It's too bad Bird hates Isiah so much. If it was just D. Walsh, then I could see a chance of that happening, but not with Bird at the helm. If he did such a thing it would be a huge shock. Indy isn't really under any pressure to make a move right now, but you never know in this league.

I don't see how we could add JO and still keep Curry on this roster- they're both players who need to be on the block.

We need outside shooting and I think Isiah knows that.

Pretty dumb read to say the least.

The writer is putting out random scenarios so that if one of those should so happen to come to fruition then he can toot his horn.

If we deal with Indiana we're getting rammed up the bung with a 2ft cactus.

i would do this any day of the week. we'd be a outside scorer away from a championship level team and they are not that hard to come by these days

Jermaine oneal plays the way channing should play. Jermaine needs a break. He has been beaten down in his career so he could benifit from letting curry get the majority of the touches. Jermaine can shoot it, rebound and defend so there is a lot of game left to be played.

The deal could get done but its definately gonna take isiah "getting rammed in the bung with a 2ft cactus" to do it, lmao!

Maybe Bird likes Frye because he sees his jumper in him? That, or he's trying to string together an unprecedented series of horrific, train wreck-style trades.

That deal would never happen, i don't care how much crawford can score, they have to get rid of big time salary and would probably be better served to trade him in the western conference i think seatle might be interested and a deal with a draft selection and some young talent would work much better...than that terrible knick package.... It would package curry out of town if we got o'neal.

That rumor was put out there a LONG TIME ago. SEATTLE is likely going to be relocated. I think its absolutely retarded to think that a player is desired just because he is from his hometown. Now, maybe Nate, because he played for the Huskies but the Seattle folk were pissed that Jamal didnt go to UW.

Plus I also dont think they're trading Ray Allen...esp if the team is relocating. They need a player of "star" status to sell tix. Ray Allen.

Ok will be fine even with a rebuild of a team.

JO is sort of damaged goods. That would be a hell of adeal for Indy.

Frye may be ok in the right system. Seems what ever Larry did worked better for him. Bird knows the deal and what he can get on Frye.

Work to his strenth he is a good player. NO threats.

Jermain if he is wlling to be "Just" a 15-10 guy could have greater longevity and winning can happen here.

He is not cut out to be "the man".

Mardy
BooBury
Jermain
Curry
SOme shooter to be named later......

I like that Blazers Rumor that says if they don't the Number two pick, they want to trade for Rashard Lewis.

Lewis S&T & Watson for Miles, Outlaw and 6th pick... pretty fair.

Jamal Crawford ($7.9 million), Channing Frye ($2.5 million) and Jared Jeffries ($5.6 million)

any feasible deal for JO would likely have to contain D Lee, Balkman, CHI's pick & probably Mardy also along w/a serviceable veteran like a Malik Rose as filler (since his contract is shorter than any of the other veteran scrubs on our roster) & involve the Knicks taking back a horrible contract of a volatile player in return, like Jamal Tinsley for example

Indy should have zero interest in Frye when they already have Troy Murphy, a perimeter shooting bigman, signed over the longhaul, & other than the fact that he played college ball in Indiana, why would anyone associated w/the Pacers even be remotely interested in Jared Jefferies? he's almost as bad of a MLE signing as Turdbutt was, & it's a pretty close call at that.

TMS, sometimes demographics do play a part in trades. why else would the pacers choose to get fleeced in the deal they made midseason, giving up two far more talented black dudes (and one who was a problem since day one in indiana) to get two clean cut, blonde haired white dudes? fans are the ppl who buy the tickets and the fans in indiana are, i know im generalizing but on the most part, country hicks who'd rather watch white dudes ball than (in their eyes) heavily tatted black thugs.

if there is a deal on the table involving jared jeffries for anything im all for it, i stand by my contention that he is the worst player in the NBA and i'd be glad to have him off the team.

i know the various problems that come with JO (already racked up double-digit years in the League, long contract, can't play with curry), but a guy who averages 20/10/2, plays with passion, and has vet playoff experience i'd welcome on this team.

and i can foresee two replies to this msg so i'll put my reasoning out there right now:
A) i know the plan is for cap flexibility in 2 years but isiah is a liar and i dont believe him. if he can get JO (who i'm pretty sure was his fav player when he coached indy) i think he'll get him. acquiring JO would add one more year of cap inflexibility, and when you counter in the re-signing of lee (probably for big $$$), collins, and balkman, i dont know how much $$ the knicks will have anyway after the 08-09 season.

B) "JO is gonna cost lee and collins and a million future first roudners!!! plus bird hates isiah!!!" i really just dont see this being a factor. if JO demands a trade -- which is probable -- then any upper hand that indy has disappears.

I find it hard to believe that the Knicks would do anything right now that would mess up their very near future, unless it guaranteed them a shot at the title. Right now this team is still developing and even with JO, likley isn't going to win a title. If Isiah and his staff are honest with themselves they should know this. I like the idea of JO, but maybe this time it really does make more sense for this team to be patient and take a slower approach to building this team.

I think Isiah has a new lease on life with the extension and he doesn't have to make any drastic moves. Much of his team is young enough for him to be patient and wait 2 yrs for the cap situation to lighten up.

I tend to agree. I like the idea of adding a star player, but we really don't know how good Lee, Balkman, Mardy, Nate, and Frye can become with a couple of years of seasoning. Why trade our young players for one older star? I think the Knicks need to work on developing our players and see where that takes us before making a big move.
