I was just wondering if any of you had ever thought of this before. We are medically (not spiritually) to the point where we can modify animals genetically. Clearly the same could be done to people (and in my mind probably has been done, but no Military Super Soldier conspiracy talk here. )

There are performance enhancing supplements, steroids, etc. Doesn't this seem to be the next logical step?
It's sort of like plastic surgery, in the sense of "I can do what I want to my body.", albeit I hope that's with permission.
If it was safe, they couldn't say it would hurt you, but it's a clearly unfair advantage.
eg. They could increase the hemoglobin count to aid in quick healing, but to the point of what for you and me would be appear to be unGodliny... how about "raised hemoglobin level testing"?

Has it been done already and who are they?

If they can make goats produce silk, what can they do to people...

Interesting article, mentions using this Goat silk in humans:
Another advantage of spider silk is that it is compatible with the human body.

That means BioSteel could be used for strong, tough artificial tendons, ligaments and limbs.

The new material could also be used to help tissue repair, wound healing and to create super-thin, biodegradable sutures for eye- or neurosurgery.

"The medical need for super-strong, flexible and biodegradable materials is large," said Costas Karatzas, Nexia's Vice President of Research and Development.

It certainly hasn't been done successfully in this country. The most elegant method for in vitro modification is homologous recombination, still in early development. And, of course, our focus is on eradicating debilitating diseases before we worry about potentially unethical endeavors like creating super-athletes.

whose focus? seems like there's more money to be made in a super-athlete than saving the poor from malaria.

Before you make money off research, you have to have money to do research. If you want any type of substantial grant, you're motivations better be clinically oriented.

We should save the genetic stuff for treating diseases. For athletes, we should try cybernetics. What we on our team is Robobury.

I wouldn't be suprised if there were some half man, half tiger mofos locked in a bunker somewhere. I would be suprised if there were some genetic mutates walkin with us. The people on this earth are insane. No telling what goes on under our noses. If we can think it, it probably has happened.

Logical in what way? There are people who even believe cocaine and other drugs should be legalized. What's the logic?
I'll never trust this' team again.

Should never mess with nature, but if you do' you'll be playing catch up for the rest of humanity. But hey, it's all too late now anyways, right?

One day, everyone will have they're day of dying. That's what counts the most, because this life is so, so short, compared to the life of the universe. Enjoy the life you have been given.

Its unfortunate that you think that. The fact is, nature can be cruel. Cancer is all natural. And people all over the world are playing catch up to it. With medicine, one day, we may actually break ahead.

Half-man, half-tiger "mofos" wouldn't be viable. And every one of us is a genetic mutant.

What is wrong with legalizing the drugs? People will use it anyway but mofos will not get money for this. And goverment can use drug money to treat people from addictions...
Or I get it - what our conservative polititions will put on their fr...n agendas? They can fight against athlets mutation zo...
And what people in Afganistan and Mexico will eat if they will not be able to do drag production and traffiking... We will need to feed them.
No way gruds should be legalized...

Logical as a sequence of events ("in the name of science"), not logical with the heart. I did mention not being spiritually ready.
There is clearly a danger in using steroids, well, if we can remove the danger of enhancing "people" by genetically altering them and not giving them things like steroids, do you not think it will be done?

Go it a step further. You know the military is yeaaaaaaars ahead of what we see. Well, if genetic modification has been out for years now, is it not safe to say that using it in soldiers would be for "National Security Reasons"? We did get all them Nazi scientists after the war. Compassion is not on their minds.

Oh, Legalizing drugs is the way to go. It's clear there is allot of black money in drug running (for the government). The lawsuits already have happened, along iwth the protests after the CIA got busted for bringing crack cocaine into inner city LA. This isn't my opinion. No killing for/over drugs if there legal. And, instead of BILLIONS for the war on people, I mean drugs, put it into education of all forms. No, they want stupid, sheeple as people, not intelligent thinking for themselves people. Then we wouldn't need criminal governments. Basically, the government is here to take care of us, not imprison us for crimes against ourselves (using drugs, not large scale selling).

Anyway, my point with Genetic modifying of people is rather a matter of time, not a moral question, unfortunately. As others have said, it's about who has the money.
