Lee is my favorite player and one of the reasons why I watch the knicks. Some of his skills are undeniable such as his ambidextrous finishing skills and his smart bb iq.

However, you have to wonder if his rpm(rebounds per minute) aren't influenced by two very important factors. [Before I get into it I have noticed that he isn't that great of a rebounder against some starters like rasheed wallace that are lenthier than him. He has played a lot of time this season against back-ups.]

1)Eddy Curry is a horrible rebounder. He played 35 mpg this season and only gets rebounds that bounce to him. When lee and Q went out he experienced no increase or decrease in rebounds(obviously because he only gets the rebounds that bounce to him). At the same time, a guy like Lee is clearly benefitting from playing with a guy that doesn't move to get rebounds and plays close to the basket on offense and defense(that is he is in the best position to get a rebound.)

2)We are a poor fg% team from the field. I'm not talking about the easy baskets that our good guard penetration supplies to curry, lee, etc. I'm talking about our outside shooting. Jamal Crawford shot like what 40% this season and I am pretty sure that marbury was pretty poor from outside too. Even Q takes it down low occasionally and gets an easy basket, and his percentage is pretty low too. This creates a lot of opportunities for offensive rebounds(due to poor outside shooting), which lee is very good at getting.

So if we sell lee when his value is high is it that bad? Just a thought and I was curious what you guys thought?

Lee is more than just a rebounder though. He represents the Knicks very well. He is a very smart and intangible player. Since he was also drafted by us I would like him to stay with the Knicks and be knick grown talent and part of a knicks championship team in the future.

There is nothing more satisfing that watching players drafted by your team formed together winning games.

he's an original knick from the draft.

he will grow and get better.. You don't trade a David lee. He'll become a specialkind of player as he continues to develop his game...

unless we're getting KG, JO or other superstar calibre player, what's the point? he's the most fundamentally sound player on this team along w/Mardy... why give that up unless you're getting back a special player who can realistically help your team become a legitimate contender?

I don't know if playing with Curry is a factor or not, but I can tell you that Lee's rebounding numbers are not artificially inflated due to more rebounding opportunities. In fact, if you take rebounding opportunities into account, Lee is tied with Tyson Chandler for tops in the league.

Lee is also second in the entire NBA in true shooting %, a stat which combines 2 pointers, 3 pointers, and free throws to get an overall sense of how efficiently a player scores. (Nash is first.)

So we're talking about a player with multiple elite level skills here. No way you trade Lee unless someone makes an outlandish offer.

If we trade Lee, it should be for a quality young player - someone special. I don't think this could happen, but if we could bring back a player like Deron Williams, I'd trade Lee.

I'd only trade Lee for a Top 6-8 Pick in this year's lottery (Noah/Wright/Horford), or for an All-Star that fits a niche.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

The more you think about it, the less likely you are to trade Lee UNLESS we got a serious superstar for it. Lee is improving and he's already double-double--high effeciency. I would say only a player like Jermaine Oneal or KG would be reasonable in a package. Would I trade him for a draft pick--not unless it was 1-2 and that isnt happening.

True as that is, Isiah get caught up in alot more than performance when filling out the line-up. He has given Nate AND Channing, and guys who don't deserve chances(Jefferies) have been treated with more respect than Lee.

I really would love to keep Lee here, but I don't see him hear long term. At least not with Isiah here.

P.S. This has NOTHING to do with him being white.

if you're trading Lee- I don't want oft injured or over the hill has been vets like KG or JO.

I'd want a player like a Kobe Bryant.

At some point, you'd think the Lakers might re-think their strategy of having a guy than can drop 80 points in a game, but who can barely get his team to 500 with shaq.

He'd be perfect here, and we'd probably still miss the play offs every year.

I don't want Lee traded, but we won 23 and then 33 games so noone should be off limits. The trouble is that with him or Balkman as a PF we are looking for a SF that can be a shotblocker. Aren't too many of those out there.

Your on drugs if you would rather have noah than lee. He doesn't do anything better except blocking shots.

I don't even think i would take horford over him, its too bad we can't package frye, nate and morris for the 6-8th selection and draft a pg or a pf.

Noah is Anderson Verajeo.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I see no reason to trade Lee. I would try to package Frye and our pick and move up into the 10-12 range and have an outside shot at Brewer or Conley.

I think a move like this would go far to quiet down the herd. Personally I would move Nate before I'd move Channing though.
