I'm not advocating the trade, or Curry as a premier piece of a playoff team.

But Isiah and Dolan do...duh.

I think the key going forward is to building around the player for whom you gave up so much, and whose been labled the "franchise".

* We Need Shooters - Our style with Curry will mainly be a halfcourt offense, so we're gonna need to make the most of our possesions. Eddy's gonna have to improve his passing, and Isiah has to capitalize on that by surrounding the perimeter with snipers.

* We Need a Rugged PF - We need someone to help do the dirty work down low. Lee's a fantastic loose ball rebounder, and a great finisher, but he'd do EVEN better on a team like Jersey, Denver, or Pheonix. I'm not saying trade him, but we do need to supplant him with someone that's more an enforcer...

We Need a Pass-1st PG - Not sure if Marbury can be that guy. We def. need someone to jumpstart the offense and get the ball where it needs to be without wasting clock or taking bad shots. Collins is an intresting choice...

Thoughts/Additions?
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

we can do whatever we want, as long as Dolan and Assiah is here, we doomed! no light at the end of the tunnel.

upper mgmt is the main problem here. Once the regime is gone then we can see something positive for the knicks..

I really don't like the idea of building around Curry, but if he is going to be here he needs to be catered to immediately. This team simply needs to fit together better.

That being said, I like the play of mardy collins. He provides the rebounding, defense, and entry pass skills that can complement a player like Curry.

Marbury's contract is untradeable, so you keep him, plus he is our most talented guard.

You keep nate robinson, but put him in a position of responsibility next season. He should be your third guard next season cause he can spread the floor with his 3 pt shooting, he can do some rebounding, and he can play some really solid defense if motivated to do so properly.

Q and Balkman are reasonable complements to Curry at the 3.

What we really need is a rugged pf that can block shots, rebound, and is really smart bb iq wise that he can make up for the fact that curry is a space cadet on defense. This is not going to completely happen, but we need to mitigate Curry's inability as a defensive player as much as possible. It's not like Curry is going to figure out how to pass out of a double team that much better even if there were shooters to take advantage of it. He is not that smart. But he can get better, and the smarter the player we have next to him, the less of a liability he is as a player.

Whatever it takes to get a rugged pf you do it.

This team simply needs to fit together better.

Malik Rose, courtesy of his Curry connection and work on boards and defense must stay. he is undersized but plays all frontcourt spots the same. great locker-room guy. winner.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

What fool named him the franchise? I never thought of him as a franchise player. starbury's was picked as a franchise player and look what happened! People who name these guys franchise players, obviously don't know value when they see it.
I'll never trust this' team again.

The one thing that Curry would make GREAT at is at forward, as a side kick to a real' center, or at least a back up center. If we had KG, we be awsome! With Crawford runnig the play making, along with our bench crew, we could go well over .500, I'd even say an easy 50 wins, playoffs and a threat for the trophy. We have pieces, we cannot make a competitor with just pieces. We need at least two guys to build around with those pieces. They proved to only be' pieces and not franchise players.
I'll never trust this' team again.

building around Curry OR Marbury, means you dont want a winning team in new york.
A winning team around these two will never ever exist.

The first line looks like your serious.
The second line looks like your using a double edged sword.

What is it your saying?

The focus of the offense is GOING to be CURRY! I don't know why this should put so much fear in people. As for the defense it's more a matter of improving the TEAM defensive prowess. Adding another SG/SF who can defend and score and also a shotblocking/rebounding PF, would do wonders for this team. We already have a few players who CAN DEFEND. Steph, Lee, Q, Jared, Balkman, Collins and Malik are all decent enough defenders. There's enough here to start to improve this team defensively while still having Curry as the focus of things in the middle. I expect that Curry will be able to come back even better next year.

The key to building around Curry is to make the menu at MSG entirely fat-free.

morris almond can stroke the rock.

sean williams defends the basket better than anyone coming out of college.

those are two dudes who'd complement curry real nicely, one offensively, one defensively.

Make jokes, but the guy is a MONSTER in the paint and we only have to add a shooter or 2 and this team is gonna be tough to deal with. We have a great chance to get those shooters too. We have some promising rooks too. So i'm not really worried about building around Curry. I can't wait to see Randolph in summer league and in Camp. I'm hoping he can really get some good work in this summer. It's not only about next year but the years to follow. We have enough youth to be looking forward like that with this team.

i'm with nixluva here. you can hate on curry for being fat, not playing D, and rebounding occasionaly, but dude can score.

fact of the matter is the knicks have a 24 year old center who averaged 19 and 7 this year and who played 35 minutes in 80 games (after being knocked for not being in shape), a 23 year old who averaged 11 & 10 this year and scored at one of the highest percentages in the league, a 6'6" rookie point who came along at the end of the year and will be known for all-around point play (passing, controlling the game), defense, and rebounding, not scoring, which is good, and a rookie widely scorned by critics as the worst pick of the decade who is the epitome of energy and, when given 30+ minutes, put up big #'s across the board.

when was the last time the knicks had 4 promising young players?

folks are crazy

Curry is not your answer. 20pts 6-7 reb and NO defense.
When you have a team that cant play defense which is a philosophy of coach
Thomas you're going to lose 45-50 games per season.

NY misses playoffs for about 6th time in last 7 yrs. Its pathetic.

Dont know what kind of knicks basketball folks are watching. Team is soft
and that is alright with everyone around here. Losing is acceptable now here
in NY just as Dolan likes it.
