Clyde to gus: "they don't make players like they used to"

Its true though. The knicks have their share of injuries but across the NBA there just seems to be a wide spread epidemic of sorts. Especially with injuries that would have ended your career in clydes day.

Any doctors or buffs in the house that can explain this?

A lot of focus on highlight plays.
It is much easier to reach hige endorsments if player is on the front pages and all over the Internet.
It's time of multimedia revolution.
Nobody will be moved by players like Stokton or Mark Jeckson.
Plyers like Nesh and Kidd need to replace the dunking/flasing with creative passing and this will not be placed on the posters anyway.
It's less of the GAME and more of the SHOW. And SHOW MUST GO ON.

Strange things like that were happening more often than not in MLB, and was linked due to steroid use. It wouldn't surprise me none if it were true in the NBA and it all started with Michael Jordan.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I don't think there are more injuries... it's more to do with teams protecting their multi-million dollar investments thn anything.

Players might get hurt more because the game is more aggreessive and players are much larger than ever before.

Skinny guys with no muscles don't exist anymore, unless you are a rookie 19 20 yr old.

Perception. Its hard to believe that players are getting hurt more than prior seasons. Maybe players tolerance for pain is at a all time low. Clyde said during a broadcast this season that he is hearing of injuries that he never heard before while he was playing. Yogi Bera said the same thing about baseball players. A lot of older guys are saying this in different sports. Saying that they may have played with fractures and broken bones but didn't want to stop playing because they feared that someone could come along and take their job. Teams now treat players as investments and seek to protect these investments. Revenue sharing has given teams a comfort level that they don't have to kill their players to compete with the "haves".
