This isn't a thread created on bashing the knicks. People usually start threads like this getting a rise of telling "apologist" how much our team sux. Or to blame it all on one player. This is a thread to see what our failures were and what we need to do to fix them going forward.
Knicks are ranked 27th in Assist with 18.8. Knicks are ranked 29th in Turnovers with 16.2 Knicks are ranked 26th in Steals with 6.7. Knicks are tied for 29th in Blks with 3.2. Knicks are ranked 26th in Personal Fouls with 23.5 Knicks are ranked 24th in 3pt % with 34.4%.
Opposing teams
Knicks are ranked 29th in opponents 3pt% - 37.7%. Knicks are ranked 26th in forcing Turnovers - 13.4. Knicks are ranked 22nd in getting the ball stolen with - 7.5. Knicks are ranked 22nd in getting there shots block with - 5.1.
In wins vs losses the biggest difference other than pts scored is 3pt shooting. We average 38% in wins. In losses we average 31.7%. All the other stats are that huge of a difference. Blks are 4.1 in wins 2.5 in losses. T.Os are 16.5 in wins & 16.0 in losses(yes thats correct we average more in wins) Assist we average 20.6 in wins 17.5in losses. Both of them are ranked low compared to other teams. As for pt total. We average 104pts in wins and 92pts in losses.
3 of the biggest problems I see is we turn the ball over way to much. We leave way to many open 3s. We have no intimidation inside with a poorous 3.2 blks per game. We don't force enough Turnovers either. Yet we get the ball stolen from us & we get our shots blocked.
We need a revamped backcourt. One that can control turnovers, improve our weak team assist total, and create for Curry instead of having Curry create for himself and pile up turnovers. We need more consistant shooters. We need to add 2 intimidaters/shotblockers at PF/C.
We are stuck with our backcourt though for next season. But I think Crawford should be our playmaking G as we don't have better options. His role should be the creater for others. Marbury's role should be that of a spot up shooter as he proved he is a very good one. And used primarly for pick and roll or pick and pop. Mardy Collins can get burn at pg,sg,sf and be the 2nd primary ball handler helping Crawford run the offense. Shooting wise Nate is good. But his problem is he is to small to player SG or SF. So we should swap Nate for a skilled shooting G/F. Morris is a question mark in these areas. So I can't count on him. Frye should be swapped for a rebounding/shotblocking PF/C. And we should find a 2nd one and bring in 2 this offseason.
PG:Crawford, SG:Marbury, SF:Collins, PF:Lee, C:Curry PG:Collins, SG:Nate trade(shooter), SF:Balkman, PF:Frye trade, C:Morris? free agent?.
As for our draft pick maybe that could be packaged in a trade with Nate or Frye to get those key pieces.
