well, another "successful" season has wrapped up. man, i love the knicks so far this millenium. well, anyway, what should they do this off season?
i think that they should draft a solid power forawrd in the draft and look to trade frye. try to trade frye, nate and possible francis ( fantasy). i would trade crawford ONLY for allen and lewis. however lewis should be a realistic target with a sign and trade. it is not a championship move but it would help us to get to the playoffs.

I wouldn't trade Frye because right now his value couldn't get any lower. Still think he can be a good player in this league. Noone is untradeable on a .400ish team. I would try to shop Q, Nate and Craw. Doubt we'd be able to trade Marbs/Francis/JJs. I think our core for rebuilding has to be Curry/Lee/Balkman/maybe Mardy(let's see if he keeps this up next season). I would see if we can get Artest on the cheap.

I would try to trade about everyone on the team.

I'd trade Curry if I could.

Next year should be a year to tank, to try to set a record for the fewest wins and most ping pong balls.

And we should think about trading our first round pick this year to fulfill the marbury trade- because in three years when there is no protection on that pick, it might be a lotto pick as well.

If we end up keeping the Draft Pick# 24— I'd select Thad Young 6-9 208 SF Georgia Tech (Even w/ his bad play as a Freshman and in the NCAA first rd. the kid is just 18 and has some real nice skills!)

Official trade bait… Channing Frye, Nate Robinson, Steve Francis

I'd try to pull this on draft night:

Trade: Steve Francis, Channing Frye and #24 to Indiana for Jermaine O’neal (This trade might require a three way, depending on the Bird/Thomas beef, also Eastern Conference rival.. might present a issue here as well)

Trade: Nate Robinson and Jared Jeffries to Portland for Darius Miles and #38 (Select: Sean Williams 6-10 235 PF BC)

Lastly, I'd try to sign a shooter like Jason Kapono for the mid level exception

Curry/Morris/James
O’neal/Lee/Rose/Wiliiams
Miles/Balkman/Kapono
Richardson/Crawford
Marbury/Collins

i'd target artest and dangle frye and qrich/mrose to match salaries.

trade francis or marbury.

let rose go back to spurs.

focus on future lineup of mardy, craw, jeffries/balkman, artest/lee, curry
Let's go Knicks. That's amare

I think the old knicks wouldve gone after Artest--i.e Sprewell with Chekkettes and Grunfeld--but now there really is a sense that they dont want any potential *personality* guys. The risk with Sprewell got us to the nba finals and the ecf.
I give up guessing who we should get in FA/trade/draft--what be will be--we have no say. The only hope I have is that they go away from this jefferies frye combo--as a fan --and I think all of NY is with me here--you cant have those two has two key pieces. Thats why this whole injury thing si kind of hogwash--we had jefferies frye curry and marbury together most of the season and when we didnt we had other guys. The roster was kind of cluster fcked as it is.

At this point, I'm really happy with who we have and the roles that they are falling into.

I'd like to continue to go with Youth and let the vets come off the cap or find a trading partner that is willing to or only needs to add a veteran role player to put them over the top.

The spurs may be interested in bringing Malik home and the lakers or nuggets may be interested in a francis like no defense personality.

Qrich would serve a good role on a team that doesn't need him as the top guy for the entire year.

These are the types of players I'm not too concerned with losing.

But I think after a year when we had the entire team together and working towards a common goal, it should not be as big a problem for Isiah Thomas to further defined Frye and Nate's roles on the team.

Jeffries has begun to finally settle in to his role of guarding the other teams best player and has settled into new york.

his and mardy's fundementals are tantamount to the knick turnaround
Let's go Knicks. That's amare

Channing frye has to go. I cry myself to sleep over it.

Jermaine oneal would be cool but its just tough to see with the larry factor.

I like etan Thomas. He us not gonna dominate anyone but I just like him on the bench instead of Jerome and cato. At least etan is gonna do more that get a free ticket to the game. He fits that lee/balkman mold. Turiaf of the lakers is who I really want.

The thought of getting jermaine is definately growing on me.

try to trade francis, frye, and malik...

target ray allen.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

If isiah gets ray Allen then he has to get jermaine oneal too.

That's a lot of kool-aid points.

i wonder why so many people think we have a chance of getting j o'neal? there are many other teams that will have more valuable assets than us to throw indy's way. the same with kg. however, next year will be interesting. most likely five impact players will go to different teams ( kg, j o'neal, ray allen, vince carter, rashard lewis). i wouldn't mind landing one of them. i am tired of losing. six losing seasons with nothing to show for is enough.
