What do y'all think of the 2nd gen Starbury collection?
Better than the originals
Worse than the originals
Who cares... they're terrible shoes -- they're turf toe waiting to happen...

Overall, I'm impressed with how the whole line has fleshed out out. Check 'em out:
http://www.starbury.com

I sent my parents to show up @ the Palisades Mall earlier this week for the signing. They said he brought 2 of his kids along... that he seemed like a pretty nice guy. They ended up buying 3 pairs (2 Starbury II's for signing, and the casual Cyclone II for general wear).

The Starbury IIs are pretty nice - they feel like quality basketball shoes, and they seem pretty lightweight for high tops. They seem sturdier than the originals I tried on months ago - the originals didn't seem polished or refined. This time around, the padding is solid enough, the insoles seem relatively plush, and the general fit and finish are more or less what you'd see with the bigger brands.

The Cyclone IIs look pretty hip, and I wouldn't mind owning a pair myself for regular casual walking around the city. They don't look cheap. The insoles/support could be better, but then again, I have relatively flat feet, so in general, I replace the standard insoles with Spenco Polysorb's anyway. Of course, the 3rd party insoles I buy cost me around $15, so that adds to the price of a $15 shoe... but like I said, I'd probably swap 'em in regardless.

I think it's interesting that Marbury's partnership w/ Steve & Barry's is helping people rethink the idea that you have to spend a lot of money for quality and cool-factor. There's a certain amount of street credibility to these shoes - you're also fightin' the man.

I have yet to see them but will go check em out tomorrow. I am a big fan of the original starburys. They are the best pure basketball shoe I ever owned. I love playing in them. Wish I would have gotten 2 pair.
