Agreed. Let's not risk his career for meaningless games.

the games are not meaningless, thats why he's out there. But if by the grace of god we some how get in, then it will be a problem.

They're meaningless. We're basically out of it. Even if we made the playoffs, we're longshots in the first round. Even if we advanced, we have a 0.0003% chance at a championship. David Lee had a long career ahead of him. Why risk his entire career for a few games? He's only useful to us if he's healthy. Grant Hill did this in the playoffs years back, when the Pistons were down 0-2 to the Heat. He tried to play through an injury, in which he shouldn't have been playing, and then got injured in the final minutes of a game 3 which the Pistons lost and got swept. He hasn't been the same player since and has freqently been injured because of it. Better to be healthy and play another day. In a similar situation, the Spurs were eliminated by the Suns in a playoff series years back. Tim Duncan could've tried to go in game 4 when they were down 2-1, but the Spurs and Duncan decided that his career was more important than a few games, and if the Spurs could've advance past the first round without him that they probably couldn't win a championship that year with him. So, they did the smart thing, shut him down for the series. They lost, but Duncan is still playing and a dominant big man today. You just don't take that risk, when a significant injury could become a career-threatening one.

Where are the Knicks team doctors and management?

Do they even realize that keeping an injured player off the court, in order to prevent him from injuring himself even further, is a part of their jobs?
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Good points.
Look at where trusting the Knicks doctors got Jamal Crawford? Lee better sit himself down. Because at the end of the day if he is not the same player the Knicks will be the first one's to trade him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Isiah was telling him to play because he thinks Lee could possibly win the 6th man award if he gets his games played total to around 65.

What's your point? Do you agree or disagree with the claim that Lee shouldn't be playing?

If his stats drop because he's not playing as effectively, it could cause him to lose the award. Right now he has enough games to qualify, right?

You guy's have some points, but i still say if he could give it 20 mins a night without causing futher damage, then why not.

Im sure the docs didn't clear him so he can get reinjuried.
If Im correct Grant hill had more then just an ankle sprained at the time, and he didn't have 6 weeks to rehab before he played again, he was on the court after a day or two.

True, just an example. Do we know that he could play 20 mins a night without causing further damage? We do know he's playing in pain, which is usually a bad sign. We also know Knicks doctors have been infamous for getting guys back on the court too early and them getting reinjured (not the least of which occurred with both Marcus Camby and Antonio McDyess).

I think a stress reaction is more than just some mild sprain. The doctors said it was close to a stress fracture.

My point is that Lee will be made into a hero for trying to play with a sprained ankle..Meanwhile JCraw played for a much longer time with a more serious injury without showing a grimace or any hind of pain...But DLee is the warrior...

Then who's stressing him to play. This is also not the same med crew that dealt with dice and camby.
