I'm sorry, but to take a line from TFK, we just let a cast of bums, Andre Miller and AI2 beat us for three Quarters in the garden.
People can think Im crazy for thinking a pointguard who is a leader is mostly what this team hneeds, but watching a solid point guard(I wouldn't even call AMiller an allstar he's just good nothing special) gather up a bunch of bench players plus a budding young star into a 25-26 record since AI left is killing me. Because it shows how bad Starbury is.

We are extending Isiah, talking about the new Marbury and progress over being 18-18 from Decmember to February and the sixers team subtracts AI, Webber and pretty much does the same thing. Does he really take away from this team that much???? Chirs Paul can come fresh into the League and turn West/Brown/Synder/Speedy/Mason/Rasul Buttler???? into a 38 win team in the western confernce??? But Marbury can't win 8 of 15 games with Curry(who teams still game plan for over him), Frye, Balkman, Nate, JJ2 and collins in the eastern confernce this year??? Subtract Marbury and Paul....... are last years Hornets better then the knicks hurt this year???Am I missing something? Are the sixers Hunter/Dally/Carney/Kover/Smith/Williams/AI2 better then Crawford/Lee/Curry/Frye/Nate/Balkman/JJ2/Collins??? So how come Miller gets a 5-18 team to 30 & 44 but Marbury can't get more then 31 & 43 to this point. Because he takes away from the knicks.

YOu want to talk about Defensive, like PJ Brown and D Mason are sooooo much better then anything knicks have, fine defensive is a problem. BUt I'm looking at the Clippers and Sam Cassell. A team last season who tanked to 47 wins, having only 37 wins a season later with 8 to go??? Going from +2.7 PDiff to -.7. Losing old, slow, non-defensive Cassell has the clippers giving up a point more per game??? Brand and Kaman still block shots and board, Ross gets more playing time, Mobely is still there, better defenders got to play more.... Hell even Maggette is health this season. Only Real change fom last year to this is cassell being injuried for most of the season, missing 24 games and only being able to start in 30.

You ask me there is something to be said about a Point guard/leader helping your team in every aspect of the game. Knicks fans don't even get to know what they have because of this muffin head Marbury being the Vet/Pointguard/Head of the team. How much Better is our D if we don't Turn the damn ball over 18 or more times in 75 percent of our games???? How many times do we drop these gimme inter division and Division games if there is a leader on the floor!!!! We have more wins in the Central and Southeast Divisons then the weakest Divison in the confernce!!!!! Bad shots, empty trips, depending on Smallforwards to run plays and hoping rookies/second year players like Collins or Nate can take care of the ball..... All signs point to Dudbury bring down the team if you ask me.

He can keep those big scoring quarters, plus average D that has some people saying he is a changed player and go some where with a real Star and leader already on the team. Because that's what he needs. I'd rather have an Good Point guard Like Andre Miller who bascially just kick our teeth in like they were the freaking Nets three times out of Four this year. ANDRE MILLER, average, nothing spectacular Andre miller. Not Kidd, Not Kmart, Not Kittles, Not Zo, Not RJ, NOt Nenad, Not VC. Andre MIller, AI2 and a bunch of guys Sixers fans have wanted to cut or trade for the past season and a half.

This is not an isiah thread, I don't care if he goes or stays, that's Dolans choice it really has nothing to do with anything but him being mad or happy with the GM. Marbury has to GO!!!!

remember back when Dick McGuire was the Knicks' scout and we always had great point gaurds around. It was almost comical how many point gaurds the Knicks drafted. Jackson, Strickland, Anthony, Ward.

"What does Marbury have to do with this loss?"

We need a PG who controls the tempo and orchestrates the offence and protects the ball. Even an average one would do.

Marbury is a great scorer, but he is not a great PG. That being said, the lose last night was not his fault. We just don't have any scorers beyond Marbury and Curry. Frye is useless right now and teams don't respect hte outside shooting of Collins and Balkman. Usually Nate can take up some of the slack, but he went 0-5 on 3s last night. If we had one more scorer come to play, we would have won that game.

I will not blame the loss on Marbury, but I will say that if this team had a pass-first type PG like a Nash or Kidd, we would be doing better. Guys like Collins, Balkman, and Fyre just don't have the experience to create their on offense on a consistent basis and need a solid PG to help them create offense. Marbury is better suited for a team of veterans who already know how to play and don't need as much from the PG position.

Agreed with this. Part of Marbury's responsibility, IMHO, is getting guys like Frye and Curry shots when they cannot do it themselves. Marbury has the ability to break down defense as we all saw in the 3rd. If all he can be or wants to be is a scorer in this league, then Marb did his job last night, but if he wants to be considered an elite PG, he needs to find ways to break down the defense in a way that leaves these guys open OR he needs to run the offense in a way that gets the guys the ball in their hands with opportunities to score.

Marbury may have had tremendous bad luck with teammates his entire career but one may also say that his track record is proving out that when he score his team does not win more than (say) 40% of the time.

You can't possibly try to blame steph for these recent losses. The defense is sagging down on Curry, we have no outside shooters that can hit the shot. At times we have Jeffries, Balkman and collins on the perimeter with Curry and Frye on the inside. Marbury is forced to take over the game and probably burn up his energy because of a lack of a supporting cast. It's time to stop blaming one player, for the most of the season he has learned to pass the ball and learned when to take over. If he was still playing the same way as he was his whole career his numbers would not be down. Simply put, we are losing because we just have too many important pieces out, every game has to be played perfectly to get a win

Martin - what threshold of "scoring" are you basing your theory of the negative "Marbury Effect"?

can you explain in more definitive terms what are you saying?

1. "When Marbury scores more than 20 points the Knicks lose 60 per cent of their games"(?)

2. "When Marbury scores less than twenty points the Knicks win at a percentage of ..."(?)

3. "If Marbury wasn't a Knick they would win/lose at ..."(?)

Simply saying that "when he score(s)" is so vague it's not even funny.

Please read the 2 posts that were quoted ahead of you. Neither blamed Marbury for the loss and the first even had "I will not blame the loss on Marbury". My response was couched in an argument between Marbury the scorer and Marbury the PG/Elite PG.

We do have many pieces out. That don't mean Marbury can't act like a PG and make the players around him better.

Martin - please stay on topic. I'm just responding to what you wrote.

>>>>one may also say that his track record is proving out that when he score his team does not win more than (say) 40% of the time.

All I requested was a simple clarification of your statement (in terms of scoring threshold) and where the 40% winning percentage was pulled from.

But it's cool.

Marbs was non existant in the first half. He was content to just be a dribble renewer and sit back and watch Mardy and JJ and Frye take over. In the third he took over the game as he should, after a pathetic 1st half. Then he ran out of steam.

My take is Marbs is not to blame for anything. because of the way we have been structured as a team, the loss of a couple role players has devestated us to the point that we can't beat anyone. He is in no way to blame for the loss but it just goes to show that there is not one single person on this team that can affect winning in any way.
I just hope that people will like me

Earl, slow down. I am on topic. I responded to someone else, not you.

Marbury is a career 20 and 8 guy who has seen the playoffs, what, twice? Shutout and a couple of 40 point performances again SA? What's his career W/L?

try decaf in morning.

This is why LB wanted to get rid of AI and Marbury on bad teams, they don't promote good TEAM basketball.

Totally agree Mike. I mean, what the hell do you guys want Steph to do? He's out there laying it all on the line every night trying to get his team in the playoffs. HIS TEAMMATES are either the ones who are injuried (nothing you can do about this), inexpierenced or just plan suck. Blaming Steph is just sour grapes. If there's anyone who can't take the losing around here it's me, trust me. But enough with blaming Steph already.

To me Stephan is trying to say (as usual):
"This team sucks, I am surrounded with bunch of booms. Ehhh. I will show you how the real game looks"
And he does...

Great job Steph - you can score and you can drive and you are strong and fierless.
But what all of this to do with the Knicks team? Are they just a background for You? and how do you think they feel about it?
I dont want beatifull things from PG - I was right things. Make other players inwolved, make them better, be a leader, be a Man. Time to grow up...

OH HERE WE GO AGAIN Some of you KILL me with you lack of understanding. Tell me how exactly Andre Miller being on this team is supposed to make them more of a winner? If i'm not mistaken he got traded FROM a playoff team with a SUPERSTAR and they took on AI who is pretty much a scorer like Steph, so how does that logic wash? Denver didn't feel that he gave them a better chance to win.

The thing is that we just don't have our top scoring shooters. We were one of the top scoring teams in the league and lately we can barely get to 90. Obviously we aren't as potent as we once were. It also makes us easier to defend. But that's right just blame it all on Steph. Despite the fact that he's picked up the slack on scoring and is still playing hard on D.

when i said it, i wasn't talking about this team post injuries. i'm talking about this team with crawford, q, and lee. andre miller is more of what this team needs than steph. look at what miller is doing with that squad in philly. and i bet many knicks fans believe our supporting staff is better.
