Wouldn't be surprised if he seriously retired. New York already has enough crazies out there.

Likely the Kings are tired of his act.

Maybe the Knicks make the following low risk gamble & offer:

Frye - makes 2mm
Rose - makes 8mm
Jefferies - makes 5mm

Total = 15mm

for

Artest = 8mm
Salmons = 5mm
Garcia = 1.5mm

Total = 13.5mm

I think its the other way around, New York is the only place Ron can be Ron. He is dysfunctional elsewhere, but if these were the Riley 90s Knicks, with PE and Oak and Mase to guide Ron and keep him in place, he'd fit right in. Now we don't have any other players who can keep Ron in check, so my concern is will Isiah be able to deal with him.

Much as I love his game, he'd be a disruptive influence and we really don't need that. He's just not stable enough to take a chance. He would make us better tho, but for how long would he be able to keep out of trouble and drama?

grunwald said that they were either going to go after a point guard or a point forward that can stretch the defense and play perimeter defense. when he was saying this, all i could think of was ron artest.

I'd do it. We need talent and Artest is a player. I'm sick of hoping for a 40 win season. Artest, Lee, Balkman and Curry up front would enable the Knicks to compete.

If we get Artest, he is like Q: Very likely Untradable.

So... what i propose is, trading Q for Ronny.
I doubt they'd get along anyway on the same team.

I'm all about buying low. If SAC wants to get a 'good guy', give them Q.

I think he could fit in with these dudes. I can see him blending right in. In fact, I think the knicks style of play fits artest. With Q possibly out with back surgery, Ron has a open spot.

Think is Ron artest is a psycho. He is a nice guy to those that know him personally but he is nice like most psychopaths. His elevator works but it gets stuck between floors sometimes.

Ron-Ron is certifiably loco in the coco but we need a DAWG on this roster anyway.

Look, the last headcase we got worked out (Spree) so let's give him a try, I say. He's so ridiculously underpaid that it's worth the risk.

No! We don't need that nutcase around here. We already have several - Isiah, Marbury James - well maybe not nutcases but they are cert. delusional!
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.

i doubt it... i think Isiah is going to play Jefferies & try to get some sort of production out of him in order to justify his signing... i don't see him taking on any off the court risks after the failed Vin Baker & Francis acquisitions.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I think IT is finished making major mistakes. And this would be a mistake. However, it is the one mistake I would really love to see. Artest is a problem NYC built and he should come back home so he can achieve his ultimate insanity and raise the 2007-2008 Knicks into one of the strangest squads ever assembled. He'll probably just play great basketball. He'd receive so much media attention, there would be no need for him to go out of his way to attain even more.

HUH, that's an interesting perspective. I suppose I never really looked at it like that. Artest in the media capital. Would that make him worse or would that kind of be a calming influence on him, since he'd get all the attention he could ever want. He'd be back in a top Music Biz center as well, which if he's busy doing that in his off time might be a positive.

I just wonder what his level of desire and commitment to BB really is. He seems so confused about what he really wants from minute to minute. That's what I fear most. Him waking up one day and feeling like he wants to do something else.

Artest fits here. He would get showered with New York love and he wouldn't act out or do anything to the teams detriment. Or at least, not worse than having a long term contract like JJ or Q.

Artest plays ball at the rucker every summer. Playing for the knicks and playing well would make him like royalty around here.

The guy does fit and he is better than any fwd the knicks can out out there. Balkman coming off the bench behind artest would be awesome.

Sactown aint gonna give him away, and isiah might not even be looking to being him in after coaching him in indiana.
