During the morning shootaround, Thomas got testy with two television reporters who asked about a correlation between his new contract and the team sputtering to a 1-6 record (now 2-6) since the extension. Thomas said the absence of three of his top five guys, Richardson, Crawford and Lee, had more to do with the team's struggles.

"You can point to that, but you also have to point to we had three guys go down," Thomas said. "Let's tell the whole story, not just part of it. If those three guys don't go down and we're still in this situation, then it's disappointing. But when you lose those three guys the way we lost them, tell that story, too. Just don't tell part of it. Tell the whole."

And when Bill Parcells or Bobby Knight gets testy with the media it's considered his birthright.

Testy?

Based on what has been written about him, (ie "Dunce Cap") I'm suprised Isiah hasn't bitch-slapped anyone in the media this season.

Crawford got knocked Feb 26 and the Knicks were 3-2 before Mar 12, 1-6 since.
Q got knocked March 16th(he didn't play March 10th, played less than 10 minutes Mar 14).
Lee has been out since Feb 25 and the Knicks record was 5-4 before the 12th, 1-6 after.

All of a sudden injuries are it? Or is Q that big a piece of the team because we were ok without Craw and Lee-according to our record.

The thing is that it's a matter of just not having a chance to go at this last 2 months with our best guys. No one is saying that we were GREAT with them, but certainly it makes a difference to lost 42pts, 21rebs, 8.5 asts, experience, clutch play, and good FT shooters. I hope you're not saying that the loss of guys who logged 30 mins a game isn't going to be a problem?

Also I believe that this team would've improved as we went along. I think we would've peaked when we needed it most. I certainly think we would be in the playoffs RIGHT NOW, if we had those guys. Cuz I don't believe we go 1-6 if they were playing.

What I am saying is that injuries weren't an excuse before and all of a sudden now they are. We were without Jamal and David for about 7 games before we lost Q. We were 4-3. Is Q that big of a difference to this team, because if he is I am worried that we have to count on a guy that is so unreliable health wise.

This teams goal was NEVER to make the playoffs. This team had 2 goals, IMO. First to win more than they did with LB(they celebrated like they were going to the finals). The second was to save Isiah's job-of which a fringe effect was making/being competitive to making the playoffs.
