Whats wrong with letting Marbury's deal run out or at least getting to the final year of his deal where he may have value as an ending deal?
because i want to commit to a direction & a style of play... we haven't done so since Patrick Ewing was traded, & it's about time we gave up on the failed Marbury experiment... it obviously hasn't worked & there really is no upside in keeping him here... he's played the best ball of his Knicks career & this team is still languishing in mediocrity... mine as well ship him to MIN while he can still play & let him reunite w/KG & see if they can accomplish something together where they've both failed since they separated... meanwhile, if we can get those picks from MIN, we can draft ourselves 2 players who can help form a nice nucleus for us for years to come... it's a WIN for the Knicks IMO.
as for overpaying for Josh Smith, i happen to think he's got superstar potential written all over him... to get him for that package would be a bargain & a half IMHO... put him & Sean Williams in the rotation w/Curry punishing teams in the paint on offense, D Lee cleaning up the boards, & Jamal, D Stevenson, etc. getting points on the perimeter, & that's a young, athletic, well balanced team that would bring excitement, defensive hustle, & give the Knicks some very favorable matchups at just about every position on a nightly basis.
