with lee down--balkman should be the player getting 35+ minutes at the 3 position because he can rebound the ball so well--we need that rebounding and his opportunitstic secondary offense. we lost tonight because we got killed in the 2nd half on the boards.

we went away with what got us an 18 point lead. curry stopped getting touches and Frye, who in the first half was scoring around the basket, went back to his comfort zone and never looked back. combine that with no defense, and every time chris paul went into the paint he was needlessly quadruple teamed, leaving 3 shooters wide open, and that basically explains our loss

This is a HUGE point. It's something I was ticked off about in the Raptor game. WHY are we playing so much help defense. All it does is give teams what they want. Open shots. I don't understand why isiah hasn't stopped that practice. All that helping is unecessary. All year i've been screaming at the TV cuz our guys are all stupidly collapsing on a penetrating guard. If he scores so be it. It's better than all those open 3's we keep giving teams.

we've been terrible on the perimeter all year but we have compensted with rebounding--were a lucky shot from 4 L's in a row--I think if Balkman played 35+ minutes--pulled down 14 rebounds--we get the W. They just controlled the baorsd to much--i think they were +12 and we pulled down the last 3.

I've been wanting Balkman to get more minutes for a while now. I would criticize Isiah for not playing him more over Malik Rose. I really like the way Balkman plays, and today we saw an example of what we might get with more minutes.

I think 99% of the fans would play Balkman ahead of Jeffries and give him 30 mpg right now

Honestly speaking, I still kinda like Jefferies (As I like Balkman too) and I can understand why Isiah would start Jefferies, b/c he wants the more experienced player out there, but with that said, Balkman seems to have that higher ceiling than Jefferies and is already a superior rebounder and even ball handler and such. It wont be long till Balkman is getting that starting spot, unless Q is around.

I agree, but even with some logic in playing JJ first, there is no excuse for not finding Balkman the minutes. Whether it be at the 2, 3, or 4 (especially with Q and Lee's rebounding out of the lineup), the positives outweigh the rookie mistakes.
I'm still clinging to the hopes of playoffs, but I'm still more excited to see how Balkman, Lee, and Curry improve over the offseason (yes, I believe Curry will develop a little more).
I wouldn't be surprised to see Renaldo make a Lee-like jump into his sophmore year (although maybe not quite as big a jump.)

Maybe I exaggerated a bit but I think most fans would give him at least double the minutes he's getting (at least around 23 mpg)

Is there really something that we can all agree on?

Exactly, he does need more minutes regardless though. However, if all these guys come back next season, including Q, expect more of the same.
