In a recent interview, due to Kobe's recent dirty tactics, Shaq was asked who were the dirtiest players of All-time. He said Bill Laimbeer, Maurice Lucas (?) and Charles Oakley. He also said this about Oakley, "He was Michael Jordan's personal bodyguard in the 80's, much like Marty McSorley watched Wayne Gretzky's back in Edmonton. After getting traded by the Bulls, he teamed with John Starks, Patrick Ewing, Xavier McDaniel and Anthony Mason on some Pat Riley-led Knicks teams that nearly ruined the game of basketball because of their tactics".

So that left me with this question, Who was the dirtiest (or most physical) team, the 80's Pistons or the 90's Knicks?

oh good question. i'd go with the pistons. laimbeer and mahorn were among the dirtiest players ever. rodman could certainly get his as well.

btw maurice lucas definitely belongs on the list, as does jeff ruland. you could make a case for stockton. and his mentor sloan. and ainge.

I remember Kwing saying Oakley was one of the dirtiest players and was glad Oakley was on his team. Kwing said in practice Oakley use to hit Kwing in his pressure points hoping Ewing would not be able to move a muscle. lol

I agree about the Pistons with Mahorn and Laimbeer. Isaiah was no choirboy. I saw him once (on national tv) punch Mark Price in the chest as he dribbled by him on his way to the hoop. I'm still not sure how he managed to do it, but he did.

I remember Isiah also slapping Danny Ainge when Ainge was on the Celtics. Let's not forget what he use to do to Jordan. John Salley said that he told Isiah to throw him an oop. Isiah responded to Salley by saying, "If you miss that chit I will not pass you the ball for a month." John said after Isiah said that he was hustling and diving for lose balls everytime he was on the court.

i think the mailman, who has sloan and stockton beat down, is by far one of the top cheap shot artist of all time
