A lot of guys make big splashes with intro threads, only to never be heard from again.

It's encouraging that you came in posting first, and introducing second.

Props.

I "mildly" have an agenda that can be influenced. This is the purpose of good debate and such.

I loathe Curry's game but want to be proved wrong. It is more complex than that, but that is the most important thing without getting into management and such. Obviously there might be other issues, but Curry is number one. Crawful is issue two. Isiah might be the most important issue but i "feel" now that he has his extension he might play Curry the right way. Isiah, as the survivor might fix some of the problems Isiah the gm has created.

I don't know what you mean. I like marbury to a point. He has some skills that most point guards don't, and I respect him for that. However, obviously, he has a lot of drawbacks too. I don't feel like it is necessary to list how he is a bad leader, etc. I like him because I like what he does for this team, despite what he is paid.

Well It's probably a bad idea to pollute your welcome thread with hoops talk but I'll throw something in.

When you have a team with so many cats who swing from extraordinary one night to lost in the woods the next, or guys who are supremely gifted physically, but who's bball instincts leave you wondering, I'm rarely surprised when someone does or doesn't like someone on the team. Between the extremes lies our mediocrity.

That said, more and more Chubby and Crawful are looking like a co-dependant tandem, because of the chemistry between them. If you don't like one it's good not to like the other because they'll probably stick together.

The other pairing might be Marbury and Lee. Lee's game is hardly dependent on Marbury (as a good offensive rebounder lee's game is mostly dependent on misses, and the entire team obliges him plenty) but on the break and in the lane Lee is best fed by the glum one.

Whether this pairings can all mesh as one remains to be seen. I starting to wonder if we wont start to see factions developing within the team and decisions being made based on which pairings are most viable going forward. And how ironic that, injuries aside, isiah splits the pairings by having Marbury start with his off-pairing in Curry, while Jamal comes off the bench with his off-pairing in Lee. They all play enough minutes that a lot of it washes out in the game, but it's almost as if Isiah is trying to maintain a certain creative tension there.

Then again, maybe he's just clueless.

Anyway, what would you see Isiah the survivor doing differently than Isiah the GM?

Lee can play with anyone. Marbury can play with Frye. Marbury, Lee, and Frye are a very good offense. Insert Balkman, and this team compliments itself. We can play defense, we can rebound, and we can finish off excellent guard penetration. End of story.

End of story? That's four players, and Frye hasn't demonstrated he compliments anybody and Balkman and Lee have pretty redundant games save for Balkman's better perimiter defense.

But taken with what you've said before I guess your point is that you think this team would be better off without JC and EC.

If they are it's not a whole lot better. I really don't see Marbury, Lee, Balk and Frye as much of a core. I think you could dump Marbury and Frye and field Crawful, Eddy, Lee and Balkman and do just as well if not better. But this certainly wont be the year we'll find out.

Uhhh Marbury has no game flow, he spends a lot of the game disconnected from his teammates. I don't understand how anyone likes his game especially when you watch someone like Steve Nash. It's almost like watching 2 different sports. Never forget what the organization gave up, to get Marbury and Curry.

I would love to see the Crawford of last yr along with Frye mixed with Lee, Balkman, and Q

I disagree. Frye is very good with the pick and roll with marbury. Lee and Balkman fit with him very well. Balk and Lee are superior finishers around the basket. I think those three on the front line are very good. Frye has the outside presence that allows lee and balkman to be closer to the basket in order to not only finish but to get rebounds which they are very good at.

Again, thanks for the welcome!

Well it's hard to distinguish what's what from the offense these days. For instance, you like Frye on the pick and pop/roll with marbury. In theory that should work, but... Frye's shot has been off, and he's not great at rolling from as far out as the arc, where Steph usually takes his picks. Marbury is our full time PG, if Frye were such a great perimeter option and Marbury can't find Eddy in the post why isn't the Frye/Marbury combo working?

Also, Marbury used to be considered one of the premier P&R PGs in the game, but I'm not sure the same holds true today. Any PG can take a screen and pass off to the screen setter, but what made Marbury uniquely strong was the power of his own penetrations which would draw the defense. It's not clear his legs can still take the pounding of constant explosive penetrations, and without that he's no better for the role than anyone else who can make a short lateral pass.
Again, thanks for the welcome!
