Nah, there's no doubt that the dna testing demand was all a ploy to get Eddy to take a pay cut. That's a fact.
Paxson took a chance that no other team would be willing to take a chance on him and he was right (one out of 34 times). Isiah, the overspender called his bluff and the rest is history
Eddy was feeling like a piece of spoilled meat and was unwilling to allow Paxson smooth things over with him (Jamal in his ear didn't help Paxson either).
That's why that Beatch was crying. Paxson felt like he was in a game of high stakes poker and Isiah caught him with his pants down.
hold on one sec. eddy is not the innocent little lamb here. there was pretty heavy speculation that he took ephedra and showed up in shape (possibly stacker2 induced) in a contract season. the guy had to be shut down b/c of an irregular heartbeat.
what if the bulls doctors found ephedra in his blood but didn't release that to the public to protect eddy? but they wanted to make sure it was the ephedra and not something more...something that was in his family's history? so instead of giving him market value (which they then gave chandler after they traded eddy proving they weren't cheap), they asked him for a dna test. was it a ploy? i'm not so sure b/c all eddy had to do was take the test. but he felt there was a risk involved (and by he, i'm also including his agent) that could potentially HURT his payday. so chicago was being smart business wise and eddy was protecting his own finacial prospects.
there ain't no BS here. no organization offers $20 mil to a guy that will never play for them. it was $20 mil to STAY HOME...not play. what kind of paycut is that? that's called free money.
but isiah came into the picture. he was willing to give up the money (the one advantage of this organization). he did his due dilligence medically (at least we hope so) and chicago got the best deal they could get for him. nobody LOST here. especially not eddy b/c he got a $60 mil payday.

You didn't see any statements from me insinuating that Eddy was some kind of "Innocent Lamb" in this situation. Eddy was very aware that they were trying to get him to take a major pay cut by insulting his intelligence. He was many times more aware than the Bulls that there was a possibility of dropping dead. Plus, innocent lambs don't take ephedren or whatever else he may have taken. He knew the reperussions. This fella is an adult. Not lazy, not fat, not Ronald McDonald's step child. An adult.
In fact Chicago couldn't patch things back up with him because they insulted his intelligence.
Finally, all of this talk about doctors finding a drug in his blood and not disclosing it to the public is pointless.
Bottom line, Isiah called his bluff and because Eddy wasn't hearing it he ended up with us.
I'll let other's debate the pros and cons of the picks. I will however continue to get a big laugh from all of the squirming.
Just to think, Isiah's gonna be with the Knicks for atleast another 4 to 5 years. How can you stand living?
