is it just hard to get an easy win in today's NBA?

1) Too much expansion diluting the talent.
2) Minor League is not established enough to develop young talent that will no longer play in college, so too many inexperienced players getting too much time.
3) Poor enforcement of the rules of the game coupled with gimmick regulations like basket charge-circle.

Equals a sucky NBA compared to when I stepped in back in the 80's

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

yup.

biggest problem was the highschoolers, 2nd is the new rules, which basically amounts to the nba being a more athletic wnba with less fundamentals...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

aaghh. the new rules. perimeter defense isn't allowed unless your last name is either bowen or bell you can't touch people. except wade in the last 2 minutes, nobody can touch him during that time (footnote at the bottom of the rule book)

also, the new thing is trying to draw fouls. Too many people are flopping. Any time you have 7ft centers falling to the ground, there is an issue.

I agree, the main difference in todays game vs the 80s and 90s game/talent is the addition of the young players. Players were more polished when they came out back then, they went through 4yrs of college ball, stints in the CBA. You had ample time to improve your game and skills, not to mention learn the fundamentals. What we have now, is highschool players and 1 year guys that really don't understand fundamentals. With the exception of the elite guys like Melo and Lebron everyone else could have used more time in college.

To understand this trend we should look who are the winners
We have 6 superior teams in the West and 2-3 in the East getting majority of wins and it is no surprise.
These teams have owners who care about basketball and understand the business, great GM's and great and very good coaches.
No wonder they collected best talents, bets vets, and most versatile, smart, and durable players.
They play team ball and have strong leadership, play smart game, have a plan for franchise development and think about the future.
This is basically a super league inside NBA. I would have 12 top teams split out after All Starts break based on the points and play for 8 play-off spats.
The rest 18 can play for the right to stay in NBA. 2 last teams out. Bad we have no clubs looking in.

NBA went too far in making it look like bbal is sooo popular. They should have been more careful in drawing the line between popularity and profanation
