#1 please rest AH he has multiple injuries to his wrist ankle and leg. We are not going anywhere and he still will be an integral part of the team for 3-4 more years. We don't need him to have a serious injury while he is slighlty broken down. Put him on IR for 5 games and let him rest up and reevaluate from there.
#2 After this season-say we have pick #9 this is a trade that i would like us to attempt---vujonic thomas the 9th pick and a 2005 pick restricted to 3 for Eddie Curry. We need a center so bad that we have to go out and attempt to overpay for one.
If we come into next year with c-Eddie Curry 6-11 285 PF Mcdyess 6-9 245 SF Andersen 6-6 210 SG Houston 6-6 200 PG Eisley 6-2 180 6th man Sprewell 6-5 190 c-Doleac 6-11 265 PF-Harrington 6-7 235 SF Spoon 6-7 265 PG Ward 6-2 185 11-williams 12 rookie IR Knight IR rookie
And we have two high 2nd round picks. We can either just draft with the 2nd rounders or package them together and get up into the 17-24 range and look for a true SF. I moved Andersen into the starting lineup because he is bigger than Sprewell and spree could give us better structure coming off the bench as a 6th man.
We buyout ward for 2mm and resign him to market value 2 years and 3mm bucks. Late in the year we can look to package Knight's ending contract if we are in a serious push and we have a nice deal on the table--or just let it expire to get our payroll down.
If we give up the picks we still have
2 picks in 2003 2 picks in 2004 1 pick in 2005 plus an assortment of ending contracts. Once players like sprewell contracts expire-we either bring along a pick or use the mid level exemp to acquire via FA at less than 1/2 the cost.
