and he might not be coming next year, which would be fine with me. letting him develop more overseas is best, because we know that no players develop over here! the only thing is that everyone else, spree, dyess, houston, thomas will be a year older and the nucleus will surely be gone in 2 years if he comes then.

spree will be dealt for sure when he has only 1 year remaining on his contract.

maybe it's best that frank williams gets a chance to develop though without milos here... then we can either really need milos and hope that he delivers or if frank williams is the real deal, milos hopefully will still have awesome value.

I dont get is, NY has a chance to bring over a solid player who most likely will contribute, and may even provide some star potential. Yet they would rather keep him in europe and maybe never bring him here? Or even worse, trade him to another team because they arent sure if they can use him? A team like Dallas, Sacramento, etc would have this kid here now. He would be playing, he would be getting better. Instead we have NY sitting on its hands doing nothing. He could have gained a ton of experience this year since this team was never going anywhere.

I think if it was up to the Knicks, he'd be here now. He stated he wanted to play with New York, which is great news, but he doesn't want to leave his team, being the best player in Europe right now. You can bet the Knicks would play Milos now if he's as good as advertised. We'll just have to wait until he's ready, be it next season or sooner.
go knicks!

I want him here now. He looks like he's going to be our starting point guard and maybe one of the top 10 point guards in 3 or 4 years. We can't keep someone like that overseas. We need him, McDyess, and a good draft pick at the beginning of next season and we will be a legit playoff team.

No european player can develop in the NBA?What about Tony Parker? He's the Spurs Starting PG now, and you can bet that Vujanic is at the same level as TP.

Real GM:

Vujanic Could Start For Knicks
Added: 24th February, 2003 3:19 AM ET

Kings center Vlade Divac said he thinks point guard Milos Vujanic, the Knicks' 2002 second-round draft pick, could start right away for Don Chaney's club next season.

"No question," said Divac, president of Vujanic's club team in Yugoslavia, Partizann. "The Knicks need that kind of player."

Comparing him to Steve Nash and calling him "the steal of the draft", Divac isn't holding his breath Vujanic will stay in Yugoslavia.

"I'd love to keep him there; our success lies on his game. But if he asked me as a friend, I'd advise him to come after this year," Divac said.

Marc Berman writes that the Knicks expect Vujanic, averaging 25.8 points, will join them next season, though he has said several times he hasn't made his final decision. He's making only $100,000 in Yugoslavia and would have to pay off the team, but the fee may be picked up by the Knicks. Read

this year's draft///

Sofoklis Schortsianitis 6-9 253 PF (Greece) 1985
when is layden going to greece to check this guy out?

Kendrick Perkins 6-10 260 C Ozen HSSr.
http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/kendrickperkins.htm
or texas to see Perkins?

Zarko Cabarkapa 6-11 230 SF/PF/C(?) (Yugoslavia) 1981
http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/zarkocabarkapa.htm
Did layden check out zarko when he was overseas?

knowing layden we're going to get Darius Rice 6-10 215 SF Miami Jr.

Is James Lang coming out? He's a 18 y.o. C, 330 lbs, 7-1.

Second round, we have 2 picks... I expect layden to be involved in some draft day trading again... I can see Charlie being dealt, and one or both of our second rounders for Adonal Foyle or Dampier.

If we keep our second round picks...
Chris Marcus 7-1 285 C Western Kentucky Sr. if he's on the board
and some foreign guy will be drafted from Yugo probably

I read that he is 6'3 with socks... 6'4 with shoes. News Report? what is the source? He looked taller than that during the Worlds last year.

Sure we should draft another point guard so the Knicks can put out a full starting lineup of point guards
lets see who will play center Frank Williams

no, we should get rid of the scrubs eisley, ward, and williams and get price who has more heart and talent than all 3 combined. I dont know why I bother tho because Knicks brass has no eye for talent. Its no wonder we are one of the few teams without a foregin player or young up and coming talent- unless you consider williams and postell but =puhleaaazzze.

How about Vujanic? He was a steal. Had he come out this year, theres no way he'd have fallen into the second round.

I think the big question here is the one that every team faces: do you draft the best player available, or do you draft to fill in your team' needs I really would like to draft a big man, but I'm not gonna sit here and tell you we should pass on a star point/shooting guard to do just that. It really depends on the player we're drafting and what the Knick outlook is like then. Do we have Dice back? And do we need that big man as desperately if he is back? Maybe a second rounder will do. And is Vujanic coming over? Any trades (Sprewell)? We might just need a small forward even more then a center next year. And most importantly, what's our draft posiiton? The lower we go, the better the chance we get the best big man available.

I think the way the team is now, we need to draft the best player available. Period. Our payroll is gonna prevent us from getting great young stars, so we must look to the draft for the next generation of Knicks. We can get big men through several means; but young talent is another ballpark.
go knicks!
