We have to make the playoffs. Too much things going in our favor.

WE HAVE TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

Pardon the "Captain Obvious" thread.

not really, we're missing 3 big players and we don't hit free throws and only play defense in the 2nd half. So there isn't that much. What you can say is... of all the teams listed, NY is probably playing the best ball. Problem is we match up terribly against the teams we are competing with. NJ always has our number, same with Toronto, and Indy is due for a win this season. Orlando I'm not worried about.

Don't be so quick to think this team can't get it done. We're actually fighting harder than many of the teams in the East Playoff Race. Just look at how we're playing teams without many of our best players!!! That should tell you right there that we have a HUGE shot at making it happen this year.

Isiah has done a VERY good job of getting this team to keep fighting and working to get into the playoffs. There's really no way to ignore it anymore. The guy is getting results even without key players.

Results??? People are talking about how they have a good chance because other teams are collapsing, not because they're playing well. How the hell is that progress?

You seem annoyed! Is the Knick win bothering you? Perhaps you ahven't noticed that we've been playing without some of our best players. AND WE STILL have found a way to win games. It's not like the Knicks haven't done anything at all. They're taking care of business. So if these other teams, which i'm sure you at some point felt were so much better, are now faltering, that's too bad. No one was feeling sorry for us back when we had our tough part of the schedule.

are there such things as D- or D+? i thought it was just D?

regardless, lee's return will be like jesus' return to the promised land. he will add a huge boost on the glass and more production from the 4.

orlando and indiana are both plumetting. knicks finish near 500 and here come the playoffs...

Just remember guys. We arent' exactly 'earning' a playoff spot. It's practically being given to us and if we blow it, that pretty much will sum up just how pathetic we may really be. I'd be happier with a .500 or better record to go along with it, to show some kind of respectability.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Actually Lee and Crawford would be a good return. Curry's scoring production would start to climb again, with Crawford in there. So that would be at least two things that will improve.

We are missing Lee and Crawford. Best rebounder and a big time scorer on the team. So it's like going from a D- to a D+ when you haven't been able to study for 2 days before the exam. And we are only 75% done with the exam. Maybe we can get to a C- or even a C. Going from a D- to a C in one year can be seen a progress right? Come on man, don't you think this team is better than it has been over the last 4 years? It's going to get better from here on.

Well, I think the C's and D's thing is a bit much, but the team is a little better than last year, but I also believe the we need to question the future at this time. If we are still in major development with this team, then it's going to be awhile before we really know what we have. From all signs, or certain ones, I don't see us going too far with this' particular team. I think we need some changes and I said it before and I'll say it again. I think we need someone else to examine this team and take us in a different direction at this point. I have begun to think that Thomas has done all that he could do with this team and Dolan should start to think about handing it over to someone else, who can take them to the next level. One of the problems we are having right now is, we need a Coach and a GM. We have both in one guy. I really believe that this inhibits his ability to do one job with full attention. Thomas got himself into this corner and Dolan has already threatened to finish him off. I'm basing all of this on our recent history, since Thomas has been here. I for one am finished with anymore excuses. We are through most of the season and we only 'a little better' than last season and being given a gift ride possibly into a playoff spot. The experience would be good for the young guys, but the real question right now is, we still don't really know what we have yet. I beleive the Knicks need to start thinking about what we have and if they don't think we have what it takes to grow into a championship type team, then we need to start thinking about some changes and how to make that happen. I'm all for development, but were do you draw the line and say enough time and chances are enough? When the times come, starbury, Francis, Jeffries, Jeromes contracts will be a blesssing when they start to run out. It's what do we do next' when that space and money becomes available that no one is really clear on yet? You can try to answer this queston, but will we really know if that is the right direction?

I tried to offer a suggestion, which I thought was more realistic, but most people on this board for some reason was against it, or just don't think such a thing can happen. So I'm kind of out of ideas as to what our next moves should, or could be. But I do know that we need to start to ask these questions to ourselves, as well as our management.
I'll never trust this' team again.

4949 - you offered the same reasoning before yet could not name a single person to take the Knicks to the next level.

Frye, Lee, Balkmen, Collins and Curry are at least three years away from their peak years. Why is it so important to bring in someone other than the person who selected them, (and who they have a certain loyalty towards as a result) to benefit from their inevitable maturity?

Change for the sake of change is pointless.

I would contend that month-by-month improvement, despite multiple injuries to starting players, is a sign that the Knicks are indeed on the right track.

You want change but don't know who you want to lead the change. Nor do you know how the young Knicks players will develop OR what transactions are in the wind for 2007-08. But you want change.

Change into what exactly? Bring back Al Bianchi? Stu Jackson? Ernie Grunfeld? Jeff Van Gundy?

Sounds a bit risky if you ask me.

I already admitted not knowing what else to do in this situation. And it looks like you've made your decision as to stick with the current situation, so LOL to you. Because I may not have an answer just yet, doesn't mean I may not recognize that there is this problem on this team. I don't mean that in a mean way. I agree that change for the sake of change is pointless. Its just that sometimes, to get healthier, you have to change something that might be good, to make it better. I'm seeing this, based on experience of past management decisions. If it were a sure thing, then I'd say leave it alone. But it's pacing very slowly and I see something here that I think needs to be looked at, as far as the problem, the situation we are in at this point. It's an observation at this point. Does anyone else see this?

Whose the ignorant person?

The one who wants any kind of change for the better, because this team is toiled in mediocrity
or
The one who thinks change will instantly lead to a worse record(not really possible with this franchise, since it's already bad)

It's funny how the same people who cry about the Knicks injuries are the same ones who take pleasure in other teams missing some of their best players.
