knicks have had 5 #1 draft picks over the past 2 seasons.
which ones are long term starters, which ones are reserves?

Frye - starter if he gets a set

Nate - reserve - based on IQ and Height

Lee - really a reserve who we treat like a starter due to the other slouches on this team. Lee's defense is terrible, but hustle is amazing. Imagine if Curry had Lee's hustle?!

Balkman - starting SF - energy, height, handle, rebounding, defense needed for a competitive team - just needs to develop a few consistent moves other than dunks. Post moves, spin moves, 15 footer, 3 point shot.

Mardy - reserve PG, can be a starting PG if he develops the 15 footer and 3 point shot and has players around him 2 through 5 who are stars. Charlie Ward - non-flashy, but steady PG type of influence on a team.

We treat Lee like starter (actually most of the bbal specialist in NBA too) but IT uses him like reserve

frye - Starter..but not here. He is a reserve here due to Eddy Curry's emergence.
nate - Reserve
lee - Starter. Work ethic, hustle and IQ is phenomenal.
balkman - Eventual starter. Has all the tools needed. Just need to work on outside shot.
mardy - Possible starter. Another one that needs to buy a shot.

Frye= If adds the weight and muscle could be a starting center on an uptempo western conferenc team. right now he's playing like a reserve

Nate= change of pace reserve

Balkman= could be a starter on a team that has an allstar pf and a legit center. His game compliments skilled players.

Lee= starter
Collins= reserve

Lee is a starter. Frye could be a starter on certain teams and roles, but overall, he and the other 4 are reserves. Balkman a starter? Ahh no.

the question was whether or not these guys could be starters or reserves over the longterm, not right now necessarily.

i bet the suns would trade the knicks marion for lee/balkman, i wouldn't do it but i am pretty sure they would

If we are talking future (2010) of the knicks, and looking at their roles here in New York

frye - Starter
nate - Reserve (Crawford and mardy are my starters in 2010)
lee - Reserve (only because this is the knicks and they have Curry and Frye already)
balkman - Starter (we all love jeffries game, but the NIT mvp starts in the nba)
mardy - Starter (the kid is pass first, plays defense and extremely composed)

until then, it's
curry, frye, jeffries, qrich/francis, marbury

I believe in Mardy Collins. I'm still not convinced he is a point guard though. He just needs to settle down. He is a definate pro.

I would start Lee and balkman all day everyday.

Nate is a good player but he is not the most mature player. He brings it which is what you want, but you just don't feel comfortable with him out there because of it. Lol.

Frye lost me. He would have to put up KG numbers everynight for the rest of his career for me to respect him just a little bit.

thank you... funny to me when people talk about Balkman like he isn't starter material... the guy just makes plays all over the court whenever he's on the floor.
