The goal from the time Dice went down should have been the lottery and they should do everything possible to get into a great position in the draft. Hopefully the Knicks will lose games for the rest of the season because that is the smartest thing they can do. I think had Dice been healthy they would be top four team in the east and top 7 or 8 in the NBA. Now add a high pick it doesn't have to be a leBron it could be a milicic. That would give the Knicks a chance at a run to the championship. I want the Knicks to do what the Spurs did the year they walked away from the draft with Duncan. They have an opportunity and they should definitely go after it with the intention of the future in mind. Its still not to late to get in a great position for the draft. The Playoffs are gonna suck anyways don't force it down the fans throat with a team which has no chance at the main goal the championship.

Next year its all gonna change and the Knicks will become a monster team again but they have to do the smart thing and lose now for next year. Its time for the KNicks to make a push in the positive direction, in this case its time to lose games for the better. Come next yeaar with Dice, Vujanic and a great high pick to the existing team in my book is going to be a contender. If the NYK management can't see what is coming then they gotta get out of the business because they are passing up an opportunity for championship glory for a meaningless playoff birth.

Any team that tanks games on purpose should be suspended from the league for at least one season, and criminal charges should be brought up for any players, coaches, or management in on the fix.

The Spurs didn't tank games. They were missing their best player, they were terrible without him, and they didn't finish in last place. The lottery pick was incredible luck that they could not have planned for.

The current Knicks are not bad enough to drop more than a few games out of contention for the weak last spots of the East. The Knicks are a .500 team without McDyess or a true center. To blow up such a team would be extremely foolish. The Lakers didn't do it in the late 90's with their high-talent medicority, and the Pacers didn't do it over the last few seasons.

The only way the Knicks cold get a high pick this summer is through a trade. In the meantime, they are only two games from the 8th slot. Playoffs means money now. Draft picks are a higher risk for ROI than one playoff round.

Any owner would rather have his team go one and out than not make the playoffs at all, in some vain hope to get an impact draft pick. There's no guarantee that a draft pick won't be a bust. First round of playoffs means bonus money for players and ticket sales for the owners.

From ESPN:
"The Knicks decided they could compete for the eighth playoff spot with what they have. Let's not forget that they also have Antonio McDyess in their plans, provided he's not the next Grant Hill. Other teams shied away from the Knicks because of some truly hideous contracts, and we're not even talking about the deals of Latrell Sprewell or Allan Houston. They, at least, have proven they can play. What about the money being expended on Shandon Anderson and Howard Eisley? This has been a .500 team since Sprewell came back. It is what it is, which, in the East, makes it enough to at least contemplate a playoff berth. Status: Winner."

Ok, so...I think we'll lose enough games without TRYING to lose them, anyway. So, it's all good. We'll still play hard, but without a center, we'll still lose the close games in the 4th, despite H20's sweet Jumper. That will get us a high enough pick to grab a big man in June, and we're back in business.

Wishful, of course. Dice is still a good move in my opinion...But a center is the next logical move (Replace LJ and Patrick, basically)...

I am glad no moves were made, getting a decent draft pick, milos, and dyess back on this squad and we have a real team again. Spree is a solid player and so is H20, so build around them with these other options and we could see the playoffs. Add in some luck with a guy like Milcic and we could even net a championship in a few seasons. I am very happy no move was made, lets look at the positives:

1) Keith Van Horn isnt in an NY uniform
2) We are in a good position to play well and still get a draft pick
3) We still have Spree, Thomas, and H20.

I realized you're a pessimist, big time.. You have to think positive and look on the bright side. Even though they loss McDyess, they're still playing decent ball. Any team that thinks, just because one of our best player went down, we should tank the season are a bunch of punks. That's why i like them boys.. They haven't given up yet and Chaney is doing a good job havin them focused and ready. I suggest you support them to the fullest. If they make the playoffs, you don't know what could happen next. You do rememeber the last time knicks were 8th seed. Anything is possible, you have to be optimistic and have total faith on your team.

That NYK 8th seed had talent out their wazoo, if anything they should never have been a 8th seed, this current team is probably not even an 8th seed this year they are below that. Man I am painting such a postitive out look for the KNicks I have them winning a championship if they concentrate on the draft this year. I know they are playing hard and that is the reason I am painting such positive out look for them. This has nothing to do with being pessimistic. If anything my post is all optimistic it is a well thought out plan to a championship. I suggest you start rooting for losses because your optimism is about playoffs and a run, runs only happen if you have talent and this team isn't that talented especially without Dice and Vujanic there. My opptimism has championship significance I wish more NYK fans would become enlighten. If you want a championship you have to have the best talent if a team isn't going to have the best talent then they better have the two best players in the game on the team if they are going to get their goal of a championship.
