definitely, but also having depth on the bench is good for those back to backs when the starters lack energy.

this pace projects out to a 44 - 45 win team over a full 82. This is the standard I expect to reach next season. otherwise i will concede that I will be disappointed with anything less next year.

I'm glad we've been winning more than we've been losing. It is really about time this team puts a string of wins together. It is an absolute must for this team to show some consistency (especially at such a crucial time like this). Tonight is a BIG test.

i agree. even the celtics and philly are on 4 game win streaks. this team can't feel vindicated by getting close or showing signs that they're a playoff team. we need to take advantage and earn it.

This is a good "moral victory" but there is only one win-loss measure that matters. In the immortal words of Bill Parcels, "you are what your record says you are." This team is .459... while it is definitely better than I expected this season, but still not good.

I don't see what's so bad about setting a minimum expectation of being a .500 club. The .542 win percentage isn't good enough. They needed a .686 winning percentage over that stretch to be considered respectable.

In other words, the Knicks needed to be great to offset how terrible they were in the beginning of the year... just to be a decent, .500 team.

FootBall is way different. Every game matters so much in FootBall. Each NFL game is worth FIVE nba games in the standings. So that Parcells soundbite is just ESPN-noise in my ear. Watching the team these last two months, we have seen a team which wons more than they lose. If this were the NFL, starting the season 5-11 was three seasons ago. We're NOT now what our overall record indicates. We are how we've been playing lately. If all there were to sports analysis were glancing at the standings why have message boards. Why analyze anything?

Good reasoning especially when you consider they played several teams during that stretch missing Superstars/All-Stars/Bonafied Starters. They went on a quick little 3gm winning streak after the brawl and have played .500 ball since. During this stretch they have been BLOWN TO SMITHEREENS by Philly(2), Charlotte(2), Miami(with no Wade or Shaq), and Golden State. They have accomplished this during the easiest part of their schedule.

Their remaining schedule consist of 21 games 15 of those against teams in the playoff hunt.
