Last month Ron Artest was cited for neglecting dogs on his property, and his troubles have now escalated. The Sacramento Kings star was arrested on Monday morning in his home on domestic violence charges, according to a multiple media reports.

Placer County Sheriff's officials announced the charges and scheduled a 7 p.m. ET news conference to discuss the incident.

"We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering information," Kings spokesman Troy Hanson told the Sacramento Bee.

According to the reports, police responded to a a 911 call at 9:23 a.m. PT, and deputies found the woman who made the call at Artest's Loomis, Calif., home. After interviewing the woman and the player separately, police arrested Artest.

He was charged at the Placer County Jail with domestic violence and using force or violence to prevent his victim from reporting a crime, the Bee reported, citing officials involved in the case.

In early February, it was revealed that Artest paid $1,942 in boarding and impound fees because some of his dogs had spent a total of 77 nights at the Placer County pound since July. Animal control officers had gone to Artest's five-acre estate seven times in that period in response to callers' complaints about dogs being loose or not being fed.

Artest completed anger management for a domestic violence charge in 2004, and the mother of his children was charged with the same crime for hitting Artest in 2002.

Nothing will mess you up quicker than a crazy woman, but since it is Artest, I would have to believe he probably instigated the situation. I am glad we did not try to trade for this guy. He is a magnet for problems.

knowing the maloofs, instead of sending a message that they will not support the player's actions by punishing him, they'll take the usual "we stand by our players" stance.

one of the reasons Isiah would never coach Artest again. it's a shame about Artest, but he's had so many chances at this point.

This guy Artest had something bad happen to him when he was young. 95% of people with anger like this, usually means something happened to him. He needs professional help. It is a trait of abusers, with the dog thing and the woman thing. Think about it. He's in areanas, were people ridicule him, a place of a tremendous amount of pressure that activates the guys conflicts. He needs to talk to someone and cry it all out. He needs to understand that there are people out there who care about his problems.
I'll never trust this' team again.

i heard artest might get cut...they said he will be excused indefinitely in the latest version of the ESPN article. Do we not give him a shot if he's released?

Well, I would consider making a move for Ron Artest at this point. He's been excused indefinitely from the Kings, meaning the Knicks could get him dirt cheap.

Nate Robinson + Jerome James works under the trade checker and i would make that deal every day and twice on Sunday. Artest's value is at such a low level I think the gamble is worth it. The Knicks gave up nothing for Spreewell and we all know how that worked out.

I'm okay with rolling the dice again if we can move our crap to obtain one of the best two-way players in the league. If he goes psychotic again, just give him the Penny Hardaway treatment.

its past the trade deadline so they'd have to cut him.

artest is a certified queensbridge madman but boy is he a good ball player. our lineup sure would look good w/ him...

as nas said, "never fraudulent queensbridge dont make no herbs"

I would rather hear both sides of the story, women can loose in a argument and get so mad that they can call the police and say this and that.

And Fellas that's when you loose.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Hell yeah we give him a chance!!! No brainer, no brainer, no brainer! But only on one condition. We are able to structure his contract to get out of it, if he is too much of a problem. He'll have to earn it, to stay with us! Hell yeah we give him a chance. The contract will also include him getting professional help along the way. It's the only way.

Huge difference between a basketball player with personal psycho problems, vs. a fictional mob person. No comparison.

Jeff/Frye for Artest and a pick?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
