![]() From Ticket-760:
For a few days, the hot rumor had the Knicks wanting to deal Latrell Sprewell to Philadelphia for Keith Van Horn, but word was that the Knicks were holding out for more. The Sixers were not willing to throw in rookie John Salmons (whom they acquired from the Spurs for Speedy Claxton last summer), but both teams were still looking for a way to make a deal work. Enter the Spurs. According to several sources, the Spurs some discussions about a three way deal that would have sent Malik Rose and Steve Smith to Philadelphia and gotten them Latrell Sprewell from New York in return. Philadelphia would have sent Keith Van Horn and possibly Salmons to the Knicks. Eventually, the Spurs, who are already short of healthy frontline players, decided they did not want to send Rose. That reportedly sent the Knicks back to calling the Hawks about Shareef Abdur-Rahim (Sprewell's salary matches Abdur-Rahim's), but the Hawks have already turned the Knicks down several times. Sam Smith, of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Dallas Mavericks are considering a Latrell Sprewell-Nick Van Exel deal. "It appears the league has caught up with Dallas and its mirage defense." writes Smith. "New York remains desperate to be rid of Sprewell. Van Exel is close with Antonio McDyess, who the Knicks are confident will return next season, and New York is without a top point guard." http://www.ticketsports.com/script/headline_newsmanager.php?id=119739&pagecontent=cctvispursreport [Edited by - MCfan23 on 02/20/2003 15:47:50] We suck.
