Not sure I agree with the columnist...Simply because of age scenarios. Better to let everyone's contracts die a natural death than make premature losers out of a squad that may only be a couple of tweaks away from eastern title contention (Yes, I said that.) Spree, H20's contracts will be over before we're all elderly, so relax and get a friggin' center already.

Watch, we start winning next season, and all the columnists will jump back on the jock of 'this scrappy team'...

Here's an even better article that pretty much sums up the inept GM we have in Scott Laydumb.

Quote from the article:

"With Layden in charge, you might as well hang a sign outside the Garden that reads, "Going out of business."

Layden doesnt plan well and stick to it. He looks what will help them now instead of looking beyond this year. Instead of looking for someone to play with KT this year he should be looking forward to next year with McDyess and Vujanic. Knicks need a rebounder and intimidator. With Vujanic commming they need to rid of Spree and get a bigger SF (not KVH) who will take it to the rack (Fizer- bargain after injury, Eddie Robinson, Tremaine Folkes, Darius Miles). There are alot of young C who fit the bill (Dampier, James, Voshkul) or prospects of fitting the bill (Curry, Okafur, Dalambert)the Layden hasnt considered.

Somehow I think Scotty is thinking about size, but may wait till summer. I don't think Spree's going anywhere. If the extra size comes from a REAL CENTER, I don't know if a 'longer' small forward (especially KVH) is necessary. The majority of the rebounds should come from a center. I'm not on the Latrell bandwagon, but Spree holds is own against the competition. If there were more rebounds, igniting fastbreaks, Spree would smoke his defender more often...Imho
