The Clippers' Shaun Livingston dislocated his left knee and had to be wheeled off the court on a stretcher during Monday night's game against the Charlotte Bobcats.

The replay is hareble...

I saw it once on ESPN, and I don't know how he still even has a leg right now. That was BAD!

i'm almost afraid to see it... any link on youtube?

i think it's just a freak occurence... basketball was a lot more physical in the 80's & 90's.

The game was physical and that’s why players was not flying like crazy to the rim
This year is so bad for so many players
I understand this is all entertaining stuff but I would better see healthy players and less highlights. I'll better see beautiful passing, team play, shooting skills that freaking athletism.

When I play basketball, I wear hinged knee and ankle braces: The ankle braces because I've had severe sprains and one fracture and the knee braces because I DON'T want to have a bad injury. I think all players should do the same, but I guess there worried that the extra weight will make them a tad slower.

I have a lot of experience with braces and other type of appliances, but I think they limit mobility, and they can transfer stress to another joint: If you step on someone's ankle and the ankle brace holds, the stress moves up to your knee. SO I wouldn't wear any braces that I don't have to.

I think today's athlete is getting more powerful, and they are able to hurt themselves easier with the things they can do as a result.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I don't know. I could see that being a problem if you're stepping on someone's foot in basketball every five min and the stress throughout the rest of the leg was really accumulating. But if it happens maybe once a month, I'm not sure that it would make a difference throughout the rest of your leg, but it could easily save you from an awful ankle sprain.

From ESPN:

Livingston had an MRI exam which revealed tears in the anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and lateral meniscus

There is a video at that link. It is not good to watch.

Jeez. He'll probably miss at least part of next season.

I guess. I was thinking it's usually a 9 to 12 month recovery for ACL surgery. His sounds like it could be worse than most ACL tears though.

That was awful to watch. I wish the kid a lot of luck coming back from that. He pretty much destroyed everything he could in his kneee. I hope he makes it back, he's a nice player.

as was said in a write up, and from a medical perspective - THE ONLY THINK HOLDING HIS KNEE TOGETHER IS THE SKIN AROUND IT. if he can walk again within the next year, it'd be a miracle.

Its not the specific style of the NBA **** like this happens!!!
Just to underline my point, look at the vid.
Demonde Greene, guard of the German national team, hurt his ankle really ugly during a game of his German team.

I would say it rivals Shaun Livingstons drama. Stuff like this really sucks!!!!

It is sad because he was starting to look good after being injured so much the past two years. Hopefully, he can come back but next year is his contract year, so he is going to get screwed on money until he proves he can play again. They say he did not damage the nerves, so there is a decent chance that he can make it back to the league but he is going to be slower I'm sure.
