when i woke up this morning and watch espn, i thought for once houston would get the props he deserved from the game he played last night. i mean, he outplayed kobe which not many people can ever say that. but then when i watched the segment that sportscenter did on the game, i had to check to see if the knicks actually won. the anchors were practically on their knees kissing kobe's 40 pt. ass. then they mentioned allan houston's performance at the end like it was a small disclaimer. the man had a nba high in points against the world champions for heaven sake. that is why i can not stand sportscenter recently. kobe lost and he was outplayed period. don't go and praise him and start slobbing his knob when his opponent scored like mad against him. if kobe scored 53 points, half of sportscenter would be about that. this is ridiculous! ( sorry for the coarse language but i am very upset about this.)

I was suprised too. Tony Delk got more love when he hit 50. Allan is one of the good guys in the NBA and they treated it "as a matter of fact" fashion. 50 point club is so rare.

I guess when Allan H. gets that rings along with Spree hopefully, they'll finally get off Kobe's jockstrap. I'm tired of it myself when they treat kobe like he's a god. One thing people still haven't realized, it's stil Shaq's team and it's more of a reason to believe Shaq should be MVP since the Fakers cannot get win multiple games without him..

yeah, back in the day ESPN used to be funny and deliver really good sports highlights. Now it's just like 'booya' and whatever. I don't know what happened to those guys, but all the really funny announcers are gone.

Give me Keith Oberman (or however you spell it) and some sick Houston highlights any day.

I agree with you Kobe and T-mac are the samething. You give T-mac Shaq and he wins a championship. What is Kobe without Shaq 3-14, man that sucks. As far as the Laker chumps are concerned they are nothing without Shaq. All the scrubs get exposed without Shaq there. The MVP of the league is Shaq and after him the considerations should be for Kidd, Duncan and Garnett because these guys carry their teams to good records.

Shaq is the most dominant player in the game (when healthy), but he is not the MVP. There is a big difference. The MVP is the player who had the best season, that did the most for his team- not "the guy whose team sucks without him". The MVP right now is KG, Duncan, or Kobe (honorable mentions to Dirk, Kidd and T-Mac).

Yeah, you heard right. Kobe. Everyone else is self-explanatory, but I don't see how you can't credit the resurgence of the Lakers to Kobe. "Oh he sucks without Shaq". I'd be willing to bet (this season, anyways) Shaq would suck worse without Kobe. I mean, they got on a bad start, and everyone turned to Shaq as an answer. What did he do? Nothing. They were still like 11-18. But Kobe woke up, went on a tear, and brought them back. Without his terrific season, the Lakers wouldn't even be in the playoff race. He's biggest reason the Lakers are in contention. Not Shaq. Don't get me wrong, they aren't a playoff team without Shaq, but neither are the Magic without Hill. Does that make Hill the team's MVP? Hardly...

However, in a seven game series, with time to prepare....Shaq is deadlier than any guard. Two seconds left, you toss it in to the post - instant dunk or free throws.

Playoffs favor big men, I think.

You can go on a winning streak during the regular season with either/or, but I pick the dominant center in the postseason.

The playoffs aren't a factor when considering MVP's. And, c'mon now. Kobe is Mr. Last Second Shot for the Lakers, not Shaq.

KObe is mr. last second shot, but as good as he is, their inability to win without Shaq just proves that conventional wisdom is right. You have to build a team around a big man. big men are more valuable. Big men mean more to a team. it just underscores for me how incredible jordan was because he never had a good big man.

Btw it isn't just ESPN. on the Madison Square Garden Network, our home channel at halftime of that game, the woman who was doing the sportscasting said
"the knicks are up by 5 and KObe bryant has 16 points......in other news"
I was like, "Hello! Allan has 23 points!" Is that worth a mention?
What the hell is going on with these stations.

On top of that on espn when Allan did that behind the back finger roll on D.Fish, they said Allan doing his best kobe impression!?!?!

What tha **CK!! These sports casters have got a lot of Kobe beef in their mouths.

They dedicated an entire segment on sportscenter to kobe's 52 points ... they only mentioned allan's 53 points. its really pissing me off
