Is Pure Knicks Love jumping on and off the bandwagon with every peak and valley of the marathon basketball season? Or running hot and cold with positive and negative emotion during the flow of a game?

Is Pure Knicks Love threads titled "why does frye suck so bad?"

Is PURE Knicks love labelling Eddy Curry fat and lazy, hurling personal insults at Stephon Marbury, or hating Isiah Thomas with such intensity that one rejoices every time the Knicks lose?

Or is Pure Knicks Love best summed up in watching the game closely and making an intelligent assessment of the entire team one game at a time?

"I think they need to believe in themselves. They need to have greater confidence in what they're doing for each other," Bradley said. "The game is played in what you can do for your teammates. Great teams always do things for each other. If one person's off the other picks up, but it takes a while."

I have no clue what Pure Knicks Love is

I'm jus' axin'

Pure Knicks love is loving the team so much that you don't settle for the mediocrity we've had all decade. You wish this team would genuinely rebuild so that it can one day contend for a championship again. "Pure Knicks Love" is not the same as "Pure Isiah/Dolan Love"

Pure Knicks love is a willingness to spend the night in bed with Isiah Thomas!

Bonn - so lemme get this straight, Pure Knicks Love is about having an agenda ("You wish this team would genuinely rebuild...") and if they don't conform to your agenda, or win a championship (which is all that matters) you are eternally miserable?

help me out here

You threw about 50 things in there I didn't say. I didn't say they have to win a championship; I said they have to genuinely build toward contending rather than just re-tool and try to get guys who can bring in quick cash for the corporation. Eternally miserable is your phrase. I'm happy in life; just sad about this decade the Knicks have given us.
You'll have to work harder if you want me to join your group of happiness with mediocrity. You'll have to try harder to convince me that "pure Knicks Love" means not caring if your team has a flawed foundation that won't even contend for a title in the future.

WHO CARES!!!!

I love how guys on the board, feel the need to police the board so people don't make fun of players on the team, as if they were their baby momma's. Get over yourselves and realize that people are going to have different opinions on the direction they want for the team.

That's a classic. Byfar surpasses Bip's "Party at my house" picture thread.

I thought we were on here to analyze/critique the team, not analyze/critique other posters.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion and how to express their feelings about the team. I don't have to agree with that and I think it's fair to debate someone elses point of view. People want to hide behind opinions and feel they should somehow be immune to criticism and that's garbage. Opinions are attacked in politics all the time and with good reason.

IF you have formed an opinion it's usually based on some criteria and thus open to debate. That's why posters back up their feelings with stats and other observations. If your opinion is based solely on a "feeling" then that's different, but I would wager that this is not the case in sports for the most part. Otherwise people wouldn't have an "explanation" for their point of view. They'd just say "I don't know why. I just have a feeling". So to me, it's OK to analyze and/or critique other posters statements.

I LOVE the Knicks and have for 3 decades. I just missed the last title, but remember the era and the players. I was just too young to have been as deeply interested and to have followed the team until just after the title years. So while I knew of the greatness of Clyde and company. I have lived all these years in agony. I find some of the comments and opinions to be strange for someone who claims to have such deep love for the team. I think that some of us are not so in love with the Knicks as they may claim. They love the NBA and might even have other teams they follow, but the Knicks are only one of their teams, but not THE team that they live and die with. Thus it's easy for them to bash the team and make fun of the team the way they do. They sound like fans of another team and it's only my opinion, but that's the way they come across to me.

Most diehard fans I know are fiercely loyal and take insults of the team they love personally.

To me it is not about critiquing the team, or dissing the players or Coach or GM or owner. Its about rooting for your team.

If you love your team purely, then it is unconditional, you can't decide to stop rooting because of people you don't like, decide you want to root when you like the personnel better.

If that was possible, I would have jumped ship when they traded Mark Jackson.

Pure Knicks love is rooting for your squad no matter what. The line is very clear.

See that is total bull****! The Knicks are the only team I follow. THE ONLY ONE! Just because I disagree with the moves that have been made, it does NOT make me a bad fan nor does it make me a hater. I still root for this team to win every game they play but I also know this team is nowhere and I mean NOWHERE near a championship team.

Shame on me for expecting my team to do a better job bringing in talent and getting that talent to play better.
Shame on me for getting pissed when my 10million a year center doesn't grab more rebounds and block shots.
Shame on me for being pissed that the last 3 MLE signings have been putrid.
Shame on me for thinking its terrible that 2 HOF coaches have been fired from this job in the last 5 years.
Shame on me for having a god damn opinion about MY favorite basketball team!

To the guys who think there are people here who don't love the Knicks FRANCHISE, ask yourselves this question: Do you think there are people here who'd rather see the Knicks in the gutter over winning a championship?

If you do, those are the guys I might characterize as haters.

But for the rest of us, who are simply polarized around a state of perpetual mediocrity... man, if you can't deal with that (misterearl, nixluva) you worry far too much about what other people think, and that's why you find your own agendas repeatedly called into question.
