Knicks Trade:
No one

Knicks Receive:
McDyess (later this season), Vujanic (next seson), 1st and high 2nd round Draft Pick.

My Lineup:
PG- Vujanic- Promising young point guard. Could be the missing piece.
SG- Houston- Proven 50-plus point scorer (whoo!) and big reason for Knick's dominating 3-point game.
SF- Sprewell- Streaky shooter, playmaker, defender. Best all-around player for the Knicks.
PF- McDyess- Dominating low post presence. Scores, defends, and rebounds.
C- Thomas- Undersized, and still one of the best centers in the league. Nice outside touch, and some great defense when not getting called for the foul.

I hope they give the team one more year, because we're breaking up a unit that hasn't even been given a chance yet. I've been hearing people whine about "We need a superstar" this and "Let's get worse to get better" that. But sometimes the whole is geater than the sum of the parts. Compare Detroit and Orlando. Orlando has the superstar, and Detroit has a bunch of role players. Detroit would have to package several players and picks just to get a crack at a player like T-Mac, but would they? T-Mac can't even win half his games, while the worthless players they would be trading have proven they are better then him. Maybe not individually, but most certainly as a unit.

And just maybe we have something special like that. A destructive 3-point assault, complimented perfectly by the interior presence of Dice, KT, and maybe a couple picks. The ideal, all around, "pick your poison"-type team. The thing is we still don't know. What we do know is we won't be any worse with McDyess in the lineup, and since we are a .500 team with everyone healthy already, the sky is the limit.

Point is, we have some good players already, and need to keep this core of players (Spree, Houston, KT) together, at least until we can see them with McDyess. Nothing wrong with making small improvements until then, but demanding a blockbuster trade is just ignorant. Why do you think championship caliber teams want players like Thomas and Spree? No, they aren't suckers. They see what we take for granted.

Any thoughts?
go knicks!

I do agree except for I think that if we can make a good move we should do it. I think we should try to trade spree and/or Spree who is getting older, and is diminishing in skill.

what do you think about these trades on real gm?

I wouldn't mind seeing the entire squad together for one season...Although if a KT trade comes up for a shot-blocker, I wouldn't complain...I think we may want Spree in the playoffs...That first series against Toronto cemented that love for me...

And speaking of H20, WHOOOO! 53, baby! It felt SOOOOOO good here in LA to see Allan go nutz! Sweet.

KT and Charlie can still go if a GOOD opp. comes along. Keep Spree Houston Dice-

Cheers-

Yes... I agree we aren't going to get anything for Spree. But Thomas may bring the Length we need to block some shots. His shots next year will go to McDyess... he's not going to be the happy player he is now. Doleac is the perfect backup center... We need someone to be a defensive presence, block some shots, and chip in some put-backs... Like a more durable Camby. I'd take a look at Dampier. How about this deal...

Ny Trades...

Kurt Thomas
Charlie Ward

to

Golden State trades...

Jiri Welsch
Eric Dampier
Mike Dunleavy

This will work cap-wise too. This deal all hinges on Dampier (a very big man)... he has a bad contract. Is he worth it? I haven't seen him play much... but he doesn't seem to have a problem with being a role player.

Honestly to tell you the truth, Frank williams will become better than this pg from the european league. All the talk regarding Vujanic i believe is all hyped... Wait til he plays in the NBA. It will be a difficult transition. The PG of the future for the knicks is Frank Willaims. He''s just not getting playing time because of eisley an ward who are veteran savvy pgs.. You'll see!!

You may be right about Frank.... but Milos played against Baron and Miller doing well in the process. I think if Frank was burning it up in Practice he'd get some looks. Well see.. I think Milos might be the real deal because of his hard work and all-round game. It sounds like he can make the smooth transition because of his athleticism.

Traditionally PG's take longer to develop. Steve Nash, Jason Kidd. These guys had to get some burn before they became the players they are today. Frank Williams is no different. If he does become a great player, we won't know it for a few years. Same goes with Vujanic.

But so far he has been disapointing, and not deserving of the playing time Eisley and Ward are getting. The Knicks know what they are doing, and sitting Williams this season won't make him a bad player five years from now. He isn't a Tinsley or a Parker. His game isn't NBA ready, so I'd rather take things nice and slow. Mike Redd played 13 minutes his rookie year, and that didn't slow his progress much, did it? Good players will be good when the time comes.

I agree, fmoran. I must point out one thing, though. Jason Kidd was a co-rookie of the year with Grant Hill. Grant Hill was sort of annointed ROY before he had done anything really spectacular, because people think he's the ultimate nice guy. And because he was NBA-calibur his first season, he was a lock.

Meanwhile, Kidd had such an auspicious rookie season, he could not be ignored.

That was when Dallas had the "3 J's" - Jason Kidd, Jim Jackson, and Jamal Mashburn.

We don't know who will be the better player between Milos and Frankie but at least we have two young promising point guards that will hopefully run the point for us next season and the other used to bring back a quality big man. I don't want to trade Milos but if it means getting Gasaul, then we may have to do it.

A trade rumor in the past involved getting Radomovic, Booth, and Potapenko from the Sonics for Ward and Othella I believe. Radomovic is a young 3 or 4 from Yugoslavia so I don't know why Seattle would give him up. But if it means taking back some bad contracts from players that we can actually use, then why not.
To add a twist in favor of the Knicks, how about Knicks add Howard Eisley (instead of Ward) to the deal and give up Travis Knight (expiring contract) and Othella for the aforementioned and Kenny Anderson (expiring contract), who needs to play in a Knick uniform.
We'll help the Sonics get rid of some of their bad contratcs but they have to take away one of our bigger contracts and point guards.

Kenny and Charlie are at the tail-end of their contacts and with the young guys coming in, it would be a nice transition. The Sonics
do not have a point guard worth mentioning signed beyond this season.
So Howard is someone they will need, and he can be a back-up if the Sonics want to make a run at a star point guard in the off-season.

Radomovic, a young, tall, 3 or 4 which the Knicks need and he's from Yugoslvia which may (or may not) make Milos more comfortable when he arrives to the Knicks.

Booth is a 6'11 230 C/PF; still young and can provide some quality big man minutes.

The other player mentioned is Potepenko (who I particularly don't want - maybe because he's a former Celtic) but I would rather take Jerome James; but either way you have a big heavy 7 footer who can put a body on someone; albeit at a high cost.

Now we may be taking in some unreasonable contracts, but at least we can get rid of Howard Eisely's contract which will become a problem when the young point guards are ready to play.

We still have all our picks in the draft which we should keep. If we don't get a high pick to draft Lebron, Darko, or the Greek Baby Shaq., then we should consider a player in the middle of the draft like Darius Rice from Miami that is 6'10 has the quickness and shooting touch to play the 3.

I'm done writing, let's see what happens come thurday. ??

The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly holding a fire sale. They want to take expiring contacts for any player they have. How about this trade...

New York trades: C Travis Knight (0.9 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 7.5 minutes)
SF Clarence Weatherspoon (5.8 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 0.8 apg in 24.2 minutes)
PG Charlie Ward (7.6 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 4.7 apg in 23.1 minutes)
New York receives: C Nazr Mohammed (4.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 13.1 minutes)
C Theo Ratliff (8.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 30.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -1.3 ppg, -0.4 rpg, and -5.0 apg.

Atlanta trades: C Nazr Mohammed (4.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 13.1 minutes)
C Theo Ratliff (8.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 30.0 minutes)
Atlanta receives: C Travis Knight (0.9 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 20 games)
SF Clarence Weatherspoon (5.8 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 0.8 apg in 49 games)
PG Charlie Ward (7.6 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 4.7 apg in 44 games)
Change in team outlook: +1.3 ppg, +0.4 rpg, and +5.0 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

I would really hate to lose Charlie, but I cannot resist picking 2 6'10" guys. We get longer and we only sacrifice 1 core player.
