something like this would've worked well for all 3 teams IMHO:


NY trades Steve Francis, Jared Jefferies, Channing Frye & Nate Robinson
NY receives Ron Artest & Larry Hughes

SAC trades Ron Artest, Mike Bibby & Shareef Abdur Rahim
SAC receives Steve Francis, Drew Gooden, Channing Frye & Nate Robinson

CLE trades Drew Gooden & Larry Hughes
CLE gets Mike Bibby, Shareef Abdur Rahim & Jared Jefferies

Instant upgrade. We've needed to consolidate talent for a while now, and this gets rid of redundant parts.

for SAC, they would be getting 3 talented young players to replace some older ones, & they get some good value in return for Artest... Steve Francis & Bibby's contract negate each other pretty much.

this is the best i could come up with... the contracts of Gooden & Snow equal Francis, so no added salary in this deal... not sure CLE would do it tho... Francis would have to prove he could stay healthy for the rest of the season for them to take a flyer on this one.
