To bad we couldn't have maybe got Crawford, Malik, and Frye to the Nets for Kidd and then turned around and traded him to the lakers or someone to improve the future cap plans....
Something Isiah doesn't understand because he is dumb is you don't need to always use the midlevel exception. You make small deals for hungry players and you fill them around your guys....
Anthony Johnson, Steve Blake, Darrel Armstrong, someone steady to play 15 minutes a night and take care of the ball....
You don't have to make a move right away, players are being bought out all the time and a player can fall into your lap.....
Mutumbo that was a great move, to bring in Crawford here we are three years later and don't have a good backup center that plays defense, he is not making 5 million and doesn't have a five year contract.....Diop cost nothing but he plays defense and rebounds, you don't make impulsive moves.
Being a GM isn't brain surgery its a waiting game, you don't gamble, and you don't sign paycheck players...Look at things logically
Ask yourself is a 40% shooter that plays 30 good games 10 great games and 44 mediocore games worth a 7 year deal at 55 million when no one else is intered, and has never been to the playoffs with 1 year of college......No -am i going to take on bad contract to get him? no -do i need to sign vin baker as a favor when i have already giving out a crazy deal? no Would you sign a center with a history of weight problems and underperformance to for 25 million over 5, when he average 5pts 4rbs? No
Would you trade for a pg, that demanded a draft day trade, had serious problems with coaches and doesn't play defense, team ball, have any skills that don't already mirror our starting guard, and complains like a child, not to mention give up a young kid who may become a good defender and has a contract under 2 million, gambling to make a marriage work with 48 million left on his deal......no way
Do I sign a player with career average of 6pts 5rbs and not 1blk a game and no offensive skills to speak of to a five year deal and give him a trade kicker making him untradable because i think he can be a good defender at 6'11......I don't think so
If i have no one that can get teammates involved on a consisten basis to i take the one pg in the draft that is a pure passing pg from a good college program? Most likely
Preaching here, but i think its not out of the question to say that most people with a knowledge of the game would have not made those deals...
