Philadelphia GM Billy King has expressed interest in Latrell Sprewell. Scott Layden wants more than Keith Van Horn ... DUH! ... and has set his target on Pau Gasol. It seems like Layden is trying to pull a trade that sends Spree to Philly and Kurt Thomas, Milos Vujanic and our second round pick to Memphis and in return we would receive Gasol, Van Horn and newly signed Stanley Roberts. Ehhh!

First off, I don't want Van Horn here. He is the total opposite of what being a New York Knick is. If you thought Allan Houston was bad and soft at times, this guy is the ultimate sissy. The N.Y. media would eat him alive. It wouldn't shock me if he followed the path and ended up with a career like Vin Baker. Van Horn is horrible and I hope Layden doesn't burry our franchise for the next 4 years with this sissy.

And I don't want to give up Vujanic. This is supposed to be our PG of the future! When was the last time we had a great PG? Not to say Vujanic is the next John Stockton or Jason Kidd, but he gives this team hope. He's 22 years old! We got him in the second round! He should be UNTOUCHABLE!

I like Gasol and I think he's going to be the next Dirk Nowitzki and I WOULD give up both Spree and Thomas to get him but leave Vujanic off the table and keep that sissy Van Horn away!

pau and dirk have different games.

pau is more of a post presence, not a finesse, 3 point shooting guy.

dirk is a 7 ft SF

pau is a 7 ft young PF

no van horn.

it's too bad management's main reason for wanting to ditch spree is that he's not a company guy and has upset management with his behavior. otherwise, he'd be untouchable - his salary is high, but he plays out of position, and has for years, without publicly complaining.

Pau has a unique game to him. I think he can be converted to a SF but he definitely cant play C. He reminds me alot of a young KG. He isnt as flashy as KG but the game is there.

I don't believe that. I think it's another New York media BS rumor. Latrell Sprewell is one of the main reasons people actually come to MSG.

If rumors are true, Dolan wants Sprewell out. Given how bad Cablevision is being run (looks like EVERYBODY Beat the Wiz!) I wouldn't put it past that bozo to decree that Layden move out our most popular player. Should it happen, I just hope it's for someone OUT-FREAKIN-STANDING at SF or C.

Gasol? He's got a lot of skill, and I'd be happy to see him in orange and blue, but he needs to hit the ferckin' weight room! He's definitely not a center. What is Berman smokin' this week?

Believe it or not guys, I think Gasol would be a perfect fit in NY - especially with McDyess, Vujonic, Houston, and whoever we may draft. However this trade has us losing Thomas and Vujonic - which in my opinion is far too much for Gasol. Thomas, Ward, Spree, a 2nd rounder, maybe Knight, should be more than enough to get this kid. Otherwise I wouldnt part with Vujonic, he is going to be good.

If you put Gasol on this team and take out Thomas vujonic and draft picks--the Knicks will end up in the eastern conference finals Or the finals.Gasol has what the Knicks need--he has the length and the effecient interior game that would be a perfect compliment to our outside/slashing game. Notice everytime KT puts up a 5 pt 8 rebound clunker--we lose--and it seems as if he does that against anyone with size. Gasol --whther you want to call him a PF or a C--he is NOT a SF---is an effecient inside player who also blocks shots. KT is way to inconsitent and small for the Knicks to make any meaningful playoff run--IF they even make the playoffs. Gasol could be worth 40-50 mm in playoff revenues BOTTOM line.

I think the Grizzlies get too much in that deal - you have to realize that either Gasol or Gooden is going to have to leave because they are crowded at the 3/4 - and it seems West likes Gooden more. The problem is I doubt that the Grizzleis would want someone like Thomas since theyre booked at that position... my solution would be this:
Knicks trade:
Spree, Thomas, Ward, Knight, Denver's 2nd round pick
Knicks get:
Gasol, Philly's 1st round pick
Philly trades:
Van Horn, 1st round pick
Philly receives:
Hawks trade:
Terry, Mohammed
Hawks get:
Ward, Knight, Thomas, Denver's pick, Swift
Grizzlies trade:
Gasol, Swift
Grizzlies get:
Terry, Mohammed

The Hawks get cap relief, and a cheap but solid power forward/center that allows them to move shareef or ratliff if necessary. Also get a nice pick.
the Sixers get spree - the deal they supposedly wanted
the Grizzlies get a star guard (imagine jwill and terry in the backcourt with Battier gooden and wright up front, with Knight and Giriceck etc. off the bench)
The Knicks get Gasol and keep Vujanic and their 1st round pick, and get another one

Knicks Lineup:
C: ? -- draft pick(now that we have 2 in the first round)/Doleac
PF: McDyess/Harrington
SF: Gasol/Spoon
SG: Houston/Anderson
PG: Vujanic/Eisley

you have to be kidding me or you just dont understand basketball. Gasol is the ONLy franchise type player involved. Personally I do not think the Knicks could come up with a package to even acquire a player who is 22 years old 7-0 230 pds 20-10-3 player who shoots 53% from the field. At the very least it would take vujonic thomas and multiple picks and perhaps taking a crappy player salary back.

Terry is a franchise player ... he puts up 17 pts and 8 dimes... Gasol is 16 and 7
You also need to look at the grizzlies' needs - with gooden battier wright and gasol there, they need to move one, and west seems to want to move gasol. and their weakest position is the 2, which Terry plays, and he could also back up the 1... it makes the grizzlies a better team.
