I think Steph lost a step last year. It looks like he's lost another step or two this year. It's a shame because he was one of the quickest "power guards" in the league. That one play last night where he couldn't drive one-on-one in the open court was a perfect example. That would never have happened two years ago. Now he's gonna have to play *very hard* if he wants to help a team and he's still not gonna put up pretty stats. He can't rely on talent alone anymore.

Holfresh, think Allan Houston. Was having an awesome year on a bad knee, back and other things. Then had the surgery. It's getting more evident everyday that Steph is gonna need it.

Maybe he was blowing by people earlier, but his legs are getting worse and worse.

The guy has been playing on one leg since 2004. Never should have been allowed to play in the Olympics.

Yup, bad knees three years running now.

He needs to coast during the off season to save his knees, comes into camp out of shape, takes some weeks to find his form, plays solid ball for a month, then his knees wear down.

It's pretty obvious he's not the same player physically. Fortunately he's more of a distributor now. And at least this year he's just slow, and not slow, sullen, defiant and perturbed.

Judging from last night's game, Marbury is hurting. When he drove on Nelson, he was finishing with weak scoop shots off the backboard falling away from the basket and Nelson was with him even though he was fouling him a lot.

In previous years Marbury would have left Nelson in the dust and finished by crashing into the big-man, made a power layup and-1.

He is showing a lot more smarts overall. To me he doesn't seem to be in the same shape as the past few years. I thin he needs to take getting in shape very seriously this off-season and he can play more explosively than this year.

Otherwise he better work on his J!

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Dinglebury losing a step might be a blessing in disguise. I like the way he is playing right now. He doesn't have the explosiveness he once had in offense but his defense is phenomenal. I love that he fights through screens. Him deferring to Curry, Jamal and Q in offense is a pleasant site. He is finally playing winning basketball. Hope it continues.

I dont think he can focus that hard on getting in shape during the off season because of his knees. like mcdyess.

Yeah, you're wrong. I noticed it too all night last night. He still had an impact - and he played much better than Francis, but still looked a step slow. Didn't have his normal burst going to the cup.

I think he has lost a step, but I also think that he is hurt and could still get in better shape. If Marbury dedicates himself to conditioning this summer, I think he will be fine next year. He just needs to give himself a few weeks to heal and then start some serious training in the summer.

He can and should lift weights for his tendinitis, that is standard therapy, like what Francis has done this season. He should do non-impact aerobics, like the elliptical machine and biking to keep his wind up.

He should show up to camp lighter because that is easier on his knees, but at the same time stronger in the right muscle groups.

If he has successful surgery in the offseason (and it's not something serious enough to require microfracture surgery), then maybe he'll be a little faster next year. But I think he is also slowing down due to age and wear and tear

To have one PG on one leg is kind of OK but to have 2 is too much...
Steph and Steve are both on one leg... And are they PGs anyway?
I heard IT sad he is not interested in Kidd. Kidd also has no legs.
But he has head contrary to Steve/Steph duo. But is IT interested in smart players?
I guess not. He need dump people arount to look smart...

you'd figure we could just take 1 good leg from each one for $30+ million this season.

Steph is not quite the finisher he once was and his shot used to be a bit better too. He's still been playing better though.

maybe the he lacks the energy on offense since he is working so hard on defense. it's hard to work both ends of the court...but i'm not a professional so i don't know if my experience applies.

i said it over a year ago. i'll say it again now.

steph has no place on this team. never did. we need to find a guy that will eventually replace him. keeping him around does nothing for anybody.

he's definitely slower- smarter & hurting.

I think earlier in the season, he showed more pop.

Too many miles.

And his outside shot has been crud.

If he needs to work on anything in the off season, its his mid & long range game.

That's what we'd do if we were a rebuilding team whose ultimate goal was to win a championship. We have an owner who needs instant $$$ and gives win mandates.
