Taking into account youth, draft picks, and salaries, I picked 26-29.

how many years away is this 'future'?

After Marbs contract runs out I think we have a great future, until then we're probably in the bottom half.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Excellent poll idea.

Most definitely.

The Lovers talk about how bright the future is but really, how much better is it than most teams?

With their lack of payroll flexibility and being robbed of at least 4 lottery picks in Isiah's tenure, I think it's safe to say that they're close to the bottom.

They're built to be an average team.

Average team. As if a beggar should look down on a passer-by cuz they aint driving a Porsche. - Cut to scene outside courthouse steps, a much thinner, older, islesfan, with long white beard weathered by age shakes his cane angrily at those dropping change in his cup You're nobody, you're just average people, i dont need your charity!!

Teams don't just wake up as finalists in June. You got to start from somewhere.
Let me ask you something you will probably not anwswer...

Who was the CORE we were building around those Knick teams before Isiah you like to refer to.

In the Eastern Conference I would rather have the:

Raptors (Bosh)
Magic (Nelson, Howard, Milici)
Nets (Williams, Jefferson, Kristic, tradable superstar)
Bobcats (Felton, Wallace, May, Okafur, cap room, lottery pick)
Bulls (Gordon, Deng, Hinrich, Shebolsha, Thomas, cap room)
Hawks (Johnson, Smith, Williams, Childress, cap room)
Bucks (Redd, Villeneuva, Bogut, cap room)

Rosters hands down i would take are above

You have to include the cavs and the heat because if they wanted to blow it up they could get a ton for either Lebron or Wade

And thats being generous thats why i love all the people that are excited about our future

i would take us if curry cared

So after 3 1/2 years of Isiah, we're finally at a point where most people think 90 to 100% of the teams have better futures than us???

Our Lottery picks in 04, 05, 06, 07, other picks collected in trades and the free agent market in 08 and 09 when we'd have a ton of cap space.

A lottery PICK is like a stock option. worthless until you execsice the option. In the case of the draft, you've got to find a player with all those picks or trade for one.

Havng 4 first round picks doesn't even guarantee you'lllhave those 4 guys make your rotation, let alone, start, let alone become parts of a CORE.

we got Eddy and DLee as core parts right now. A bird in the hands with two in the bush.

I would rather have the Knicks roster over these teams:

Nets (Not excited by any of their young players as much as ours)
Bulls (I don't like this team, I just wouldent want their players)
Bucks (All offense, and still boring)
Hawks (This one is close.. I Love Joe and Josh Smith.. But I dont think its quite enough)

The Hawks and Bucks both have all-star guards and legit shots at Oden, Durant, or Noah. The Bulls have the better record, the better cap situation, better draft upcoming draft picks, and better young players than we do! The Nets also have all-stars and a lottery pick this year and reasonable player salaries.

Granted, Polls are just our opinions. BUT this poll is not about our opinion on how things are now, something we can at least pretend top know something about, but its about how things stand in the ~~FUTURE~~ which is also something that is subject to your opinion and which we can't know about without applying our current understanding. See the incongruence? Applying our current lens to a future problem, and then add in your opinions and biases on top of that. I'd venture to guess anyone who actually bothered to VOTE on this poll will vote with their current feelings and we'll see a lot of votes indicating how the Knicks have no future and every other team is better. Thats what i expect.

It's like asking, what is your opinion on the opinion you will have in two years? How can anyone answer this question and take themselves seriously?

This poll is irrelavent. Some teams will have brighter futures while teams like the Nets will sink...

Its just one big cycle.

Lee was a first round pick. You really want it both ways don't you?

So instead of 4 Lottery picks and cap space, you'd prefer Eddy. You know, because a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush.

I think the question is about more than just the current roster when considering the future of each franchise. You mention that you'd rather have the Knicks than the Nets. But with 3 all stars, a very good young C/PF in Krstic and a proven GM in Rod Thorn, I think it's a no-brainer that their future is brighter.

Forget about all that- just take into account ownership. We're screwed as long as Dolan is associated with this franchise.
