Slam magazine ish No.106 has a nice article about Lenny Cooke.

The mofo went undrafted then he got nearly killed in a car accident screwing up his leg. He's still playing in north dakoda? Is that still a state? Did I even spell it right?

Anyway, the tone of the article and every other article is that of a washed up player that is in the twilight of his career.

Dude the kid is 24 years old. He has matured. Sounds like he has humbled big time. He's engaged.

Isiah needs to sign this mofo before its too late. He's still trying to get in NBA shape. Still a guy with Lenny's skill and age you need to take on and just see what happens. Sign him to a minimum deal and drop him in the D-league.

.....on a side note where the hell is woods? You guys remember Q-dog right?

You know, I think the NBA conspires together to keep certain individuals out of the league. Woods played extreamely well for the knicks last year and NOBODY picked him up? That's bull****. Unless Woods is in jail right now, I can see why this dude is not in the NBA right now.

yeah i agree....and i find it hard to believe that no team would offer sprewell anything more than a minimum contract...the guy is definitely worth at least a 2 million dollar deal, and i think he wouldve signed that if it was available after sitting out a year...

He had a MAJOR attitude problem. One of my friends played a in a few all-star games with him and said everyone hated him and that he wasn't half as good as he thought he was.

who you talking about V? Spree, Cooke or Q Woods?

yo Eny, i was wondering where Q Woods went for the longest... i think he coulda been a nice player for us this year... definitely would rather see him getting minutes than Jared Jefferies, i'll tell u that much.

I saw Lenny Cooke at the ABCD camp the same year Lebron was there, I think it was in the summer of 2003. Lenny was amazing the day I saw him, he was crossing people up left and right and just scoring a ton of points, he even crossed up Lebron pretty good, the crowd was going nuts. It's too bad he couldn't focus more on his academics so he could play his one year at St, Johns, he would have been one of those super-freshmen like Carmelo, Durant.

Spree signed his dismissal from the league after his profanity laced diatribe against Dolan at home a couple of years ago. You should never burn bridges or bite the hand that feeds you. I have been in situation where I hated my boss but I would never jeopardize my right to feed my family.

By the way, I loved Spree the player.

Spree turned down 7 mil for three years.

At his age and current money available it was not a bad deal.

THis is a business first and formost. He don't need the money and did not care about playing for anything less.

Q-dog is a mystery. If he has vanished from american ball it could have been a drug thing. I can't think of any other reason.

Lenny blew it. He got his head wrong and just did not get it. I doubt he would have handled the pressure of being a pro. Same for Omar Cook.

I feel bad for these guys and maybe the age (19) thing is good. Guys can at least grow up a bit and have to prove they can handle being a college age player before the rigors of being a pro. NOt just on the court but off of it.

I don't wanna talk about Spree here cuz he proved he was an *******. Dude has that multi mill lawsuit on his ass for being a arrogant prick.

Anyway Omar Cook isn't that good. He was a idiot. If he stayed at St. Johns he might have learned something. The guy still hasn't gotten better yet. I watched him in D-league play and he was still doing stuff he did at St. Johns.

As far as Lenny Cooke? Yeah that dude was mad ****y. Like you wanna shoot him ****y. He went to franklyn K. Lane, one of my zone schools growing up. He didn't stay long, but I remember the dude. I saw him a few times when I went to meet friends there. He was a legend of sorts but he was acting like a real ass. Aside from all that the kid had crazy talent. His ****iness got the best of him but was that the reason nobody have him a shot? There is no way this guy shouldn't be on someones bench in the NBA. He should at the very least be in the D-league not in the Boondocks.

I believe the dude might have had a humbling time in his life and could be a better person because of it. I hope this kid from Bushwick can make it all the way back soon and drop 30 on all 28 teams that passed him by.

He had talent, but if he alienates all his teammates cause he's an ass or can't fit into the team concept, he has no use as a player.

He skipped college and entered the 2002 draft.

About the ABCD matchup against Lebron and Cooke, James torched him for 24 including the game winning 3, while he held Lenny to only 9 points. This game elevated James to stardom at such a young age. Lenny took the opposite route after this...

I read that he played in the USBL (US Basketball League) once NBA GMs passed on him. I'd like to see him play, as I have never. But chances are, his potential NBA days are over.

A brain is a terrible thing to waist. I can't believe this guy spent 4 years as a freshman and sophomore in HIGH SCHOOL.
