Jeff Van Gundy seems unconcerned with the fact that he does not have a guaranteed contract beyond this season.

"We both have a choice at the end of this year," he said. "It's not just their choice. It's not just their option. Each side has an option. But I'm not trying to sound any particular way. This is a subject I really have no interest in." Despite injuries to Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, the Rockets are on pace for 53 wins, their best record in a decade, so Van Gundy should have no problem landing on his feet whether it's in Houston or elsewhere.

We could sell him on a promising future frontline of Lee, Frye and Curry.

And the Eastern Conference will be wide-open for year, where as the West is hell...

He would get rid of Dinglebury really quick. He is loyal to his players and Steph's remarks against Childs and Ward still stings.

Yeah, Van Gundy is going to leave coaching Yao Ming, Mcgrady, and Battier to coach Curry, Lee, and Marbury. It is not happening unless he gets fired, and now that Dolan has forced IT to be the coach, I don't think IT is looking to hire another coach no matter who becomes available.

Coming from the guy who would prolly be anti Red Holzman and Red Auerbach. JVG is a VERY GOOD coach and coaches outstanding defensive teams. He knows what he's doing.

With that said, what's the point in hiring him if he's be fired in a year, anyway???

Van Gundy left the Knicks in the middle of the season. He's not coming back to coach in New York.

??????????? Where do you get this from? When JVG was coaching I rarely remember any complaints from anyone about coaching it was all about the players. No bonehead subs, no bonehead lineups.. He was good and told it like it is faught hard.. he was built for NY. I'd take him back with open arms

Van Gundy mimics Pat Riley defense, thas it...When JVG was here, if you remember they considered hiring offensive coach..Did you remember that...Van Gundy now has two of the top ten players in the NBA on his roster...Hiw has he done in the playoffs???SAS just yesterday was saying just how horrible JVG is as a coach..Maybe you know different...

Only the players? That's convenient. JVG refused to start Spreewell when he was acquired. He sparely used Camby at the same time. Grunfeld was so frustrated by Van Gundy that he wanted to fire him 20 games into the shorten season. Checketts told him directly to play those guys and the rest is history in 99. Somehow, Van Gundy gets credit for the 99 season but everyone forgets that he nearly cost the Knicks a playoff berth for showing his so call loyalty. Van Gundy is the same guy who said he wouldn't play Lebron right away when he was interviewed for the Cavs job. He is the same guy who talked Grunfeld into trading all the Knicks rookies 97 for veterans and made a statement to the NY Post where he says that he just doesn't like to coach rookies (this is where my loathing of Van Grundy started). Van Gundy smartest move as the Knicks coach was to dust off Pat Riley playbook and make Ewing a focal point again. Riley took a jab at him during the 97 playoff series about those items. I still don't think Van Gundy can ever repay Ewing for what he did for his career.

Please...They just start folowing the Knicks day to day..They have no idea what JVG was doing while he was here...He refused to start Spree...He got a vey good GM fired in Grenfeld because he didn't want to start Spree and Camby...He wanted Oak back and was pissed Oak was traded for Camby...So he refused to play Camby...
