Before Kobe LA the Lakers were a much more talented team. The Lakers actually got worse to get better. The Lakers had Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Elden Campbell , Shaquille Oneal. Having 5 scorers doesnt mean success. Knicks need to get rid of some of these scorers. Knicks need to get a plan instead of looking at the best thing available. Knicks need to get a solid SF (who takes it to the rack and not take too many jumpers) instead of Spree (Jared Jefferies, Darius Miles, Patterson, Eddie Robinson). Sure Spree is better but we need to balance this team out. Haveing 2 SG's starting must end. Knicks need to get a real C who can block shots and hit the boards. KT is too content putting up 20 ft jumpers. We need someone who can go in the post on the regular and pass out the post (Theo Ratliff or Divac).

I agree here. We have a patch work team. With our superstars not that super and our role players wanting to do too much or aren't talented enough in a phase to be a very good role player. Its time to deal.

you are right, it is time to deal. however, I have NO faith in layden to put together a cohesive team.

I wish we had grabbed scottie pippen last year or this year, he'd be a great Point-SF, ballhandler, wherein we could run Scottie, Spree and Houston at one time.

I think Pippen is untouchable now, with the way he's pulled the team together on the court.

We can steal one of the Clippers players away, probably Olowokandi for KT and a future 1st (the clippers would insist/want it). I don't know if this is a good deal or not, as Kandi has been known to underachieve, whine and play selfishly, but the talent, and size are there. Age, is not - I think Kandi is 27/28 years old? He'd complement Dyess well enough I think. Kurt was almost an All-Star, can hold down the center position and will be under a REASONABLE contract for a couple of years... or we could go after 'Dre miller, for KT and Milos, which might not be the best move, as Dre has not been that outstanding this year, but layden still thirsts for him, regardless, because he is a Ute.

PF - we're set with Dyess if he comes back healthy. This is our year though that we will draft a young PF.

SF - Tim Thomas and Kukoc for sprewell and othella? could happen.

SG - Houston is here to stay.

PG - Ward/Eisley are doing a solid job. great role players. Frank Williams is silently in the fold, and Milos is coming next year unless his rights are dealt. Look for Layden to try and move Eisley or ward at this year's deadline.

If you want a future as a Knick, you MUST get RID OF HOUSTON!

Kandi can't be traded unless in a sign-and-trade, making the chances of him being a Knick close to zero.

i think houston would have even better #'s if we actually had a post presence. KT is not a post presence - he rarely tallies assists, and doesn't really get double teams.

i think management should sit tight, and see what happens with Dyess' knee and re-evaluate this summer. Coleman would be a nice salary cap dump though, but we're so far over, it wouldn't help us get under the cap quick enough.

A team like Memphis would do anything for a salary dump like Coleman. I really think a Spree+KT or Houston+KT for VanHorn + Coleman is in the works. We would be giving alot more talent but we could trade Coleman to a team that wants cap space like Memphis, Chicago, Denver, Indiana, Miami.

why not just do a three way trade then?
