Me either.

Guys are just putting anything on their body. Where is the meaning? I mean real meaning? "commitment and excellence" that's the corniest thing ever.

I am still up in the air on getting a tat. If I ever do it won't be Betty boop, or some other stupid random saying that don't mean anything.

This is probably a very naive question, but how come so few NBA players have colored tattoos?

There's a guy at my gym who's really painted in tatts, but they're the high quality, tapestry sort that seem to almost tell a story. The kind of thing you used to see on guys in circus sideshows. They're rich with multi-colors, detailed and illustrative. They really make me want to take a close look and try to "read" into them. They are, in short, worth looking at.

Now he is a white dude, so I'm guessing that the colors simply won't show as strongly on dark skin. But I'd think the colors would still add something, especially on lighter guys, like Steph, Jeffries and Frye, but you just don't see much of it.

Maybe it's a time thing, like such detail doesn't fit into an NBA schedule? Or is it just today's aesthetic?

I'm not big on tattoos but I think that there's a big difference between putting that stuff on your body because you honestly believe in it and live your life by those principles and because you think it sounds good.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Did he say that those tats were related to basketball?? His tats could represent him being a father or something like that outside of basketball. Just throwing that angle out there for you.

Did you listen/watch to the Youtube Clip? He said those words were put there because you have to strive for both in everything that you do. So that includes basketball which he does not because he's on record for saying Basketball is JUST A HOBBY to him. Second of all, the very beginning of the clip he's talking about some Tatoo he got that he no longer can recall why he did. LOL what a SPACE CADET!

yeah well if you are a milliionaire at age 20, and you come from the slums, you'd probably do some pretty bone-headed things too.

No not you, lets get all high and mighty and judgemental.
