You cant win JACK in this league with either to much youth, or to many veterns. Which is what the knicks have been in the last 10+ years.

Too old or two young to bring it all home.

You dont need but one or two young ( prefably a SG/PG)guys, a dominate big man, and some savvy role playeys, and a solid Coach who's commited to defense.

It's amazing how Guys On the msg boards use to be hell bent on getting younger and more athletic, ( fish and Bip primarily). And I would argue that, what young athletic team has won it all.

In the last 10+ years the championship teams had this in common

A dominate big man= Shaq, Hakeem, Duncun, Big ben.
Savvy role players= Horry, D robinson, Elie, payton, sean elliot, rick fox, wallace ECT.
a young star guard on the rise= Kobe, cassel, wade, parker/ginobli Rip/prince.

And a savvy defensive coach= Rudy, pop, riley, and Jackson.

WE HAVE NONE OF THE ABOVE. Except for marbury and maybe francis, who is turning into a savvy vet role player.

Our big man Is one demensional
Our guards are one dmensional
Our coach is one demsional, and doesn't have enough savvy veterns to help him out.

Trade fry, JC, nate and francis, for a better mixture of talant.

Since when are the Knicks "too young." LOL. More than half their players have been in the league 5+ seasons. They know the deal.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

You mean "LOST" in this league for 5+ years, the guys your speaking about Curry, JC, Jeffries, forget about the vets, steph, Steve, rose and james. This teams core is suppose to be fry, lee, curry, jc, steph, and jeffries,
Aside from Steph thats a young group that already came in the league with a LOW basketball IQ espicially Curry and JC.

If your banking on them to bring us a championship( unless via trade out of here for something better) then yeah...that is something for me to LMAO about

Im simply saying, this group plays young, acts young, and have great deal to learn about playing beyond your athletic abilitys.

The 22 games we have won, atleast 18 of those games came on shere talant and depth. The 29 losses...at least 20 of those losses came because we didn't play smart enough or hard enough most cases... both, the other nine you can say, injuries and suspensions.

If some one was to tell you this( throw in the fact they lead the nba in TO) without you having watching one game, You would immediatly say, it sounds like a young bunch of guys.

Were a post up, one on one basket ball team, unpredictable night in and night out.

A dominate big man= Shaq, Hakeem, Duncun, Big ben.

i wouldn't include Ben Wallace on that list dude... he got completely dominated in the games the Knicks played the Bulls this year by Curry.
Savvy role players= Horry, D robinson, Elie, payton, sean elliot, rick fox, wallace ECT.

you don't qualify Q Rich & D Lee as savvy role players?

agreed. ben is one of those savvy role players, not a dominant big man.

there isn't really a formula for a championship, although there are pieces that make a huge difference. shaq hakeem duncan etc definitely don't hurt.

yes, if they weren't arguably our best players...

LOL, you think.
This guy starts a thread about what's so hard and names 6 top 50 players, 4 hall of fame coaches and two players in wade and kobe who are the closes thing to Jordan since MJ. It's so simple every team should do it..........LOL

I wouldn't really call Q a role player. I think he's more than that when healthy and less than that when not healthy. He's more like an above average starter when healthy and a CBA level player when unhealthy. The problem is each category represents about 50% of the season.

Right...4 hall of fame coaches 6 hall of fame players, and only 5 different championship teams in 15 years. Go figure......Who's doing something.

Excuse-based post. The suns had 4 starters under 24 and won 60 games. I could go on here--but lets not bring age into it. How much older should our guards be?

Not exactly…
Role player is playing certain role on the team. Good role player is doing ONLY things on the court and of the court that he can do best. He is not complaining about playing time, starting, position, teammates, coaches, etc. And not trying to do the things he is not good at.
How many players of this type do we have?
We have some young and promising – Lee, Balk.
And some old washed out – Malik, Cato
Not too much…
And do we have a coach who can make use of role players anyway? I doubt it…

Knicks just arent a good basketball team. Lot of big contracts, lot of guady stats but this team isnt very good and the record proves it

YEAHHHH they won 60 games had a MVP to go with it, but guess what...NO championship.

They may not win it this year if they dont figure out how to play consistant Defense.

Bad teams (and we are bad for almoust 10 years) cannot turn good in a short time. It is painfull and slow process. We have some promissing players and can get better if we will not sacrefise out development for todays wins
Cna this organization recognize this is to be seen...

really?
2001 Nets 26-56
2002 Nets 52-30 (I think they switched PGs)

1999 Mavs 19-31
2000 Mavs 40-42
2001 Mavs 53-29 been winning ever since

2003 Memphis 28-52
2004 Memphis 50-32 been winning ever since (with Gasol healthy)

2001 Pistons 32-50
2002 Pistons 50-32 (added Carlisle and Cliff Robinson) been winning ever since

2003 Nuggets 17-65
2004 Nuggets 43-39 been winning ever since

2003 Suns 29-53
2004 Suns 62-20 thanks for the cap space Isiah, hello Steve Nash

How many more do you want? 5? 10? They are there. This will never be the Knicks because we dont draft franchise players, we trade our picks for once in a generation types like Eddy. Oh.. and who needs cap space? Cap space doesnt sell tickets.

If you want to sell me on having to be bad for awhile before being good? SOLD... except that should have been the last 3 years while we wait for Houston, Shandon and Eisley to come off the books. Instead we are waiting for a new crop, ISiah's crop of mistakes to go away ALL OVER AGAIN.
