One of my favorite writes is a huge Hawks fan so I believe what he says when he speaks. He writes:

"Back to the NBA. One player has really stood out to me lately, and he’s been standing out every time I’ve watched him play the last few weeks: Josh Childress. He gets next to no publicity because he’s on the Hawks and none of the so-called “experts” ever watch the Hawks play (as evidenced by Joe Johnson not making the All-Star Game). But Childress is their most consistent player, and he’s probably their smartest player, too. He knows when to take guys off the dribble, he knows when to get the ball to better players, he’s shooting 53-percent from the floor, he guards everyone from point guards to power forwards. I’m just not sure what he’s doing on the Hawks. He would immediately make San Antonio or Los Angeles or even Phoenix a much better team. The only team I’m not sure he would help straight away is Dallas, although he surely wouldn’t hurt them."

Would he fit the Knicks needs or is would he only give us what we hoped Jared Jeffries would give us? Should the Knicks be focusing more on a PF who can bang and defend?

Too skinny, not nearly athletic enough, although close.

He's a role player.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I agree with you that he's a role player. I would just love to see him on the Knicks over JJ1 and JJ2. The next time you get a chance to watch the Hawks..check him out..

The guy is really good and although he is not a freak like Josh smith, the mofo is very athletic.

Put it this way, if the dude was in Philly instead of iggy a lot of people would be calling his name.

And yes the dude does everything that Isiah wanted Jared to do. Childress is one of those mofos that will come out of nowhere one day and people all of a sudden will have beautiful things to say about him.

I would trade nate for him right now. I'm a hug fan of his. Nate in my opinion would be a star with the Hawks.

he's a smarter version of DerMarr Johnson w/better handle & a more consistent jumpshot... i'd much rather have him than Jefferies obviously, but what could we really offer to ATL to get him? Balkman & Nate?

I've seen some footage of him.

He's too frail, and has no real position, I guess SG.

Nice 3pt %, but he's pretty athletic, not insanely.

I get so see josh a lot down here, I go to a lot of hawks games, and Josh can play, he is a good defender, a High IQ player, he is not a bad atlhete, he is not a athletic freak, but good enough, he would make the knicks better, I would be willing to ship the Hawks jeffries and nate. Josh can ball, flat out ball.. Hawks will laugh at that offer tho..

Don't sleep on childress' defense. His stats point that out.

I'd say he is just as good as your favorite young swingman just not as polished.

I like him just not enough to trade for him. To compare similar players, he's much better than Jared Jeffries and not as good as Tayshaun Prince.

I like Childress. His game is at the level I was hoping Jeffries would be at but unfortunately Jeffries is far behind. I just don't think we have anything Atlanta wants other than Lee, who I would not give up for Childress. I doubt they would want Francis even though he would be an upgrade for them at the PG position. They might have interest in Frye, but I am not sure I would give him up for Childress because we would still be stuck with Jeffries and need to give minutes for Balkman, so we would just be creating a logjam at SF.

Jefferies, Crawford and Nate would work for me in a childress package

The kid is smart and fills up the stat sheet, i remember proposing a deal earlier in the year and was laughed at trying to get two of the josh's for crawford, frye, and nate. Would love to have that now, he is still expendable since they have marvin and josh i think there is a realistic chance of getting him though

I think it would take Frye, but if we put in Frye, we should be able to bring back more. Maybe Frye for Childress and the pick that Atlanta got from Indiana (#20 in the first round).
