With all of the strides that this team is making this year, I just don't get why we play like we're owed something whenever we start doing well. I get that all of the players on this team have been medium level stars at some point, college or pro, so they have confidence. Confidence is great, but we hav to keep scrapping game after game instead of what we're doing now. Teams like Atlanta and Denver do the same thing. They are packed with talented offensive players and don't close teams out at times.

Watching a game like this trash against Utah makes me think that we really need to deal some of the extra parts on this team for a vet with killer instinct like Allen, or we just need to clear out the roster so that energy guys like Nate and B-Man have room to get minutes when we go cold.

I get that the refs pretty much threw the game, but we were the better team even considering that and we had opportunities to win.

You could see in the Utah game that we have the ability to be among the 2nd level teams in the NBA, but there is an attitude that is missing. I'm tired of Q, Jeffries, James, and even Craw sometimes. Steph is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter point guard, and that's disappointing, but I can live with it. There's just something missing with our 2/3 positions and I'm not sure that there's a quick answer, but man is it frustrating to watch this team when they are so close.

I know what you're talking about. we win a game and we get fat. the 2nd game vs Charlotte was a perfect example. we came out all relaxed and got blown out at home. I'm always worried this sort of thing will happen with us, it's one of the reasons I always expect us to play better against the elite teams and worse against the sub500 teams. bottom line is this team has talent but mentally they just don't play with fire for 48 minutes. some times I just want to see someone throw a towel or slam their fist on the scorer's table just to show me they care

It's because we're just not that good yet, but everytime we win we think we've made it. I said in another thread, we're the only team in the league that throws a party when we go .500 for the week. We have a very spoiled team with a lot of players with attitudes not condusive to winning. Get rid of those players and you'll see this problem start to go away.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Are we? What's our average age compared to the rest of the league? I think Isles once started a thread about this. Where's that search function!?

Yup. Thats how young teams react to wins. Our core group Curry, Frye, Lee and Crawford have to mature. They need to come out with the same intensity night in and night out. I think that will come with time.

I think that Curry and Lee are fine, Frye doesn't matter because he's never intense. Its really Marbs, and Q that have to turn it up a notch and take over games when it gets to winning time. Say what you will about Nate, but he's got the intensity that we need for 5 minute stretches in these types of games.

I'd be more interested in the average age of the guys who actually play or based on minutes.

The thread you're referring to was counting how many players under 25 that each team had. If I remember correctly, the Knicks fell somewhere around the middle. The Knicks are no younger and certainly no more athletic than most teams. In terms of athleticism, the Knicks are probably one of the slowest and more mechanical teams in the league.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Just going by young/average/old players we've got the following from our major minute eaters
Marbs - older
Q - average
Craw - average
Lee - young
Curry - young
Frye - young
Francis - older

heh? I put them both down for older, but considering the state of Francis' knees, I should have said ancient.
