Two days before what Gilbert Arenas has proclaimed will be his next 50-point game, no one wanted to say much about it."I'm not going to comment on that," Washington Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said.

Arenas had posted an entry on his nba.com blog under the heading "Time to Get my 50 Points vs. Portland."

He vowed to score 50 against the Trail Blazers on Sunday as payback for anyone who might have had anything to do with his not making the U.S. national team for the world championships last summer. Portland coach Nate McMillan was an assistant on the team

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

just saw that. Gilbert is certifiably crazy or just the biggest *** in the league. I can't decide which. he's entertaining though, I'll give him that.

now, does portland come out and deliver a mardy collins on him in the first quarter?

I say he goes for 44.

I'm not an advocate of this at all, as plenty of others have been screwed from this team, in the past. However, if he does this and wins, it's all good. If his team loses because of his agenda, he should be penalized.

How would you be able to tell if Arenas is doing something different just to get his 50? He's capable of going off for 50 on any night, against any opponent.

Rightttttt. Because clearly Jamal Crawford and Gilbert Arenas are the same caliber of player. While we're at it, Jerome James and Wilt Chamberlain are basically the same player too.

This is just like Lebron saying he wants to be the wealthiest man in the world. These guys come across as egotistical when they should be focused on their team winning. If he finds the # 50 so important, maybe he can say "I'm gonna help my team to win by 50 points"

But he is one of the top 3 scorers in the entire league with the ability to go off for 50 in any game. Nobody would be shocked to see him drop 50 tomorrow regardless of what he says.

IMO, arenas has a team with only a few good players and not much depth in one of the top spots in the east, and can lead them to a win any given night. i'd put up with his entertaining antics on my team for that kind of return.

i'm not sure i like the public promise for 50 points, but he strikes me as teh kind of player who wants to win enough to put that aside for a night. we'll see, i guess.
