I know Bippity has harped on this point alot since last year and I've always agreed with it.

Russo asked Heinsohn, who was on for interview, what the Celtics thought about getting the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft and if brass was hoping for one of those 2 slots.

Heinsohn's response: (I'm paraphrasing a bit)
"This organization does not want to setup a losing atmosphere and have there be even a chance, that the young players on this team would ever ACCEPT LOSING.

Where was someone to tell this franchise that same statement last year? I think its had a huge affect on the team.

Falls on the coach.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

You might not have notice but we(Knicks) are moving forward...Heinsohn has rose colored glasses on with regards to the Celtics..He thinks the team is great right now and would coach them is a second...He is an idiot if he does not want to tank it for a chance at Oden at this point...He can talk all he wants about losing atmosphere and accept losing..Celtics are going nowhere unless they get a major piece in the draft...

I remember trying to get that point across, especially last year and being crucified for it because so many people hated LB. I think a lot of our consistency stems from us having a roster of guys that have never won. And also from us allowing our team to quit last year because they didn't like the coach. Once that creeps into your system it's hard to get it out. It's in our system right now and we are struggling to get it out.

Homers translation of what I just said: Blow up the Knicks. Go Nets!!!

The coach quit on the team first!!!

Here's the bottom line about quitting. If you quit, you pay the consequences of not winning. Our coach quit and he paid the consequences. He was fired. The players quit and they are still paying the consequences. Their reputations were generally destroyed, they are fighting to earn the respect they lost, and are struggling to maintain a consistent level of effort. Our GM quit leading and is now on the hotseat.

That's the thing about quitting. Quitters always have reasons for why they quit. Some are very cool reasons. But the end result is the same no matter what the reason. You will not win. there is never an excuse for quitting. People that tend to quit have a hard time understanding this.

Anything unfair in what I said?

seems like those Celtics are doing a pretty good job of accepting losing these days.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
