I get a kick out of people who say things like it's a popularity contest and it's about the fans blah blah blah. Like that validates anything whatsoever. While people/fans like myself feel these festivities mean absolutely nothing at all. Being voted into the All-Star game or being selected to be a part of it's events is a joke, not only because fans are stupid but because the peers of these athletes for the events don't care about it. Believe it or not some of the players that will be playing in the game could care less. Many of the players that care, there's an agenda behind it. If players don't care why do fans care so much?

They want to be voted, they don't want to play. Two different things.

I couldn't careless. I know these are grown tired and hurting men being tould they have to play on their vacations from an 82 game season. Everybody knows that most of these guys, if giving the choice, won't go. But they aren't regular Labors and they have to do extra stuff for the millions.

You think they want to have to do media days or team days or interviews or team functions. Allstar weekend isn't the only thing they are made to do for the fans.

LOL @ the sympathy in these responses. It's 1 game or maybe 2 if a player happens to be a participant in the festivities before the game. Yeah they are put out for this.(rolling eyes) Some of these players get Ginormous bonuses for being an All-Star, it's built into their contracts. The fact the CBA made it mandatory for them to be there should be a wake-up call to the fans. Just stop voting and they'll get the point.

It's comical people like Kobe, Vince, Lebron, Desmond Mason etc etc can be asked to participate and decline and now Steve Nash has to begrungindly do it because of them(that attitude).
