Would you have been happy with say a Jalen Rose and draft pick or Frye or Nate for Ray Allen type of deal.

Because I don't think I would have liked a deal like that. Yes Allen would help this team very much. But we would be adding ANOTHER huge long term contract. Thats why I don't complain to much about Isiah cutting Rose or Taylor.

And there would be no way we get Gasol for just Rose and Frye & possible Nate. It would have had to be Jalen Rose, Frye, Nate or a draft pick, Mo Taylor Gasol and Brian Cardinal.

Teams would just be looking to dump more ugly salary on us. With no ending deals teams would HAVE to look at Crawford or Q.

Like Steve Francis deal last yr. If we would have cut Hardaway earlier. And had no Hardaway when we started talks with Orlando. They probably would have looked at a Crawford and Taylor deal a little harder. Or the deal would have never been made.

Can't the Knicks get under the cap after the 2008-09 season? If so, Allen's contract extends a year beyond that, so I wouldn't want him.

I would take him if we were trading away a long contract as well.

With our current situation we would have to trade Crawford, Frye, Nate, Malik Rose for Allen & Earl Watson.

You also have to think Isiah is trying to sell James back to Seattle. Since they have been crying for a center. And James had a successfull yr with them. Possibly swapping Rose with James.

The test for any trade should be can the Knicks still get under the cap after '09, unless a superstar under 28, who has no injury issues, is involved.

Last year, didn't teams trade the contracts of players that had been bought out? Why can't we do this?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

My post is saying that we should stay away from trading the expiring contracts for long term contracts of Ray Allen and only push Crawford's deal or Qs deal.

But to answer you post. I'm not sure but I think it could be possible to sign Taylor back and he would get his original contract with us at 9mil And we could possibley trade him at the deadline. I'm just guessing though.

You cant do this. That is ridiculous. So essentially you waive the dude and take him back to trade him. That's collusion, brother. Wanna lose some draft picks a la Joe Smith and Minny? Anyway, once a player is traded or waived, they cant return to the original team, THE KNICKS, for one year...see Gary Payton and Antoine Walker traded to the Hawks and then right back to the Celts. After that happened, they amended the CBA.

WOW, an stupid article in the Daily News comes out that was completely fabricated and filled with conjecture and y'all buy in to it.

I figured it wouldn't be allowed. Even if it was allowed I wouldn't have done it anyway.

The point of my post was that im happy we bought out Rose & Taylor rather than using there ending salaries to go after a player like Ray Allen and his contract.

So I think we are in agreement there, though Im not sure what your stance is.
